Official Phillip Lindsay Really is the first undrafted rookie in the ProBowl Thread

Love the Phil story but not insignificant to see Freeman near the top of that list as well.

Phil brings a lot of explosiveness but long term it isn't reasonable to expect him to have large numbers of touches. I like the idea of having an effective Freeman to wear out defenses and let Phil do what he does best. The one, two punch.

Also indicates that the OL is being much more effective this year than last.

Still wondering though with Phil and Freeman doing what they are doing why do they insist on continuing to use Booker as much as they have.

I think it also speaks to the staff's schemes and willingness to go with the 2 rooks.

Remember a year and a half ago when a lot of people wanted the Broncos to trade up and draft this guy.

Still early on but it looks like we got what people though he would be, and it didn't cost us a first round pick.

In fairness, it was a loud minority of posters.

You failed to mention that he also had 80 receptions for 651 yards and 5 TDs last year and has 20 for 147 yards through 2 games this season. That's almost 1,100 yards from scrimmage and 7 TDs last year, and he's on pace for 160 receptions for 1,176 yards this year and another 700 yards rushing this year. Yes, I'm extremely happy the Broncos got their version of him as an UDFA and that it was Phillip Lindsay, but let's not pretend Christian is some mediocre player. Besides, all I was advocating for was a RB of McCaffrey's style. An offensive weapon who can do everything for the offense, and that's exactly what they got in Phil.

Yes, a very loud minority of posters.

Nobody says he is a bad player. I am still very happy that they didn't expend what it would have cost to trade up for him.

Even if Phil had not been as good as he is there are guys who are not as good as McCaffrey who provide a similar threat to diversify an offense for much cheaper. Getting Phil and to a lesser extent the success of Freeman shows that RBs are cheaper. Use resources in harder to fill places.

Yep, like Garrett Bolles for LT!

Yes, I will take Bolles and Phil over McCaffrey. Especially since to move up to get McCaffrey would have likely meant last years #1 (Bolles) and this years #1 (Chubb.) No way in the world I make that trade for a RB who doesn't dominate games.

Your hindsight is 50/50!

This could be your best post of all time. But no way you meant the deepness I see in it.

Speaking of PL. Turned on 104.3 on the way home today and stopped for a second to see what the topic was, it was Phil. They were openly questioning the decision to have him on special teams. Stokely was lobbying to remove him as it would be a huge backlash if he were hurt on special teams.

Can’t imagine anyone here would disagree. Thoughts? I agree with stoke, I’d be livid, throw booker out there.

leave him on special teams, he's elite. He was our best gunner as well until we made him the #1 back. Not like the broncos have shown they have a big margin for error. Plus, he's never going to get 30 touches a game like he did for us.

I’d leave Phil in on special teams. Special teams is important. He’s just as likely to get injured running an offensive play as he is returning a kickoff. When he plays, everybody else picks it up a notch. It’s quite an incredible thing to witness.

Rarely have a KO return anyway. Most of his ST action is as a gunner. That may be where we see him given a rest. Be weird if he ends up being a 1,500 yards of offense guy and they still have him on punt & kickoff teams.

The Dodgers can win every remaining game on their schedule, and the Rockies could still make the playoffs. As a baseball fanatic, I would think you would be aware of that fact.

Hilarious, first off **** you. Secondly, sure there’s a “chance” but this team isn’t going to take advantage of that. They’re going to continue on a downward spiral into offensive purgatory and oblivion.

Yeah, I'm fine with him returning kicks (if he ever gets the chance), but the gunner stuff scares me. RBs get beat up enough in this league and he's proven to be valuable enough to the team that he should be relieved of that piece. As someone else mentioned, put Booker in his place.

Couldn't agree with this more-he's a better playmaker than anything this team has had since Manning's retirement.....too valuable to have on special teams.

At this point, I think I'd rather have McCaffrey than Bolles.
Early on McCaffrey has been above average, Bolles has been average. I have heard some national commentators describe him as a guy who will be one of the better LTs in the league but he isn't going to be an all-pro type..Schlereth has said the saime things and he is usually pretty accurate on offensive linemen.

That isn't surprising though. RBs and other skill guys usually are ready to contribute earlier than linemen, the linemen have to develop. The balance to that is that linemen tend to contribute a lot longer, they have longer careers. They are also harder to find.

Big point here though is that it isn't just a question of could we have McCaffrey or Bolles. To get Christian we would have had to trade up significantly, most likely the #1 in 2017 and the #1 in 2018. As bad as our offense was last year I doubt McCaffrey would have made a difference in our record so in effect you are talking Bolles and Chubb for McCaffrey. No thanks, no way.

Getting Phil is an example that finding ball carriers is easier than finding OL. If I am going to draft a RB in the first round he better be really special. McCaffrey is good but no his isn't that good.

As much as I am enjoying watching PL do his thing and shine, you guys sound like all Phillip Lindsay radio. It's been two games. Don't need to clear a space in Canton for him just yet.

If that meant giving up the pick we used to take Chubb, **** no. That's one more guy that teams have to respect that can play alongside Von.....which frees him up to make more plays.

Why do you root against the Broncos?
Not directed at me, but I will give you a personal example:

I showed up at CU in 1987, 2 years removed from the Bears Super Bowl as a Chicago native. It was a fantastic moment and, at the time, "galvanized" me as a Bears fan. I show up in Boulder and all of a sudden it is "Orange Crush" and "3 Amigos", you "MUST support this team now that you live Colorado!"

**** YOU! I already have a team. I have zero interest in supporting some other team that is already a front runner, thank you. No, really, go **** yourself. And I did actively root against the Broncos back then.

I didn't once consider liking the Broncos until 1990. That team went 5-11, suffered major injuries and didn't achieve what they should have. That season was the first time I gave a **** about them at all, but then moved away 1 season later. When I came back in 2001, I wasn't much of a Bears fan anymore as I had been gone from Chicago for 14 years at that point, but there wasn't much of a reason to root for the Broncos, either.

I loosely consider myself a Broncos fan today. I very much enjoyed the Peyton Manning run, and the ups and downs made it more worthwhile. But I don't think I will ever feel the way I do for the Buffs for the Broncos. I just don't have that connection.

Simple fix: go home.
