Les Miles - Former HC OSU/LSU/Kansas

Don't you think Miles is KU bound ?
I think many here had this hope he was going to be a Buff. Right now there's lots of disappointment that CU may have been beat by lowly Kansas with
nothing else to hang onto at this time.
Damn, if only we’d started rooting against the Buffs sooner so RG woulda made a move.

Scottsdale to Lawrence lands in 45 min. Who steps out of the plane might give a clue what's up.
If Miles isn't a Jayhawk then I'll be 1000% surprised.

Actual report from their guy on the ground
College-aged girl boards with dirty laundry. Well-tanned guy gets off plane, takes a leak, then gets back onboard.
Not Miles

The Kansas job makes no sense for Miles. They literally have no talent and no recruits. It will take him 3 years to get the roster to halfway respectable. The Buffs could be 1 class away plus some transfers or Jucos from a South Championship team.

Long can blow all the smoke in the world up everyones butt, it is not a turn key job. If he goes there, wow, great sell job.

Wouldn’t les go check out the digs and explore the various schools courting him? Why is him potentially being on the plane a sign he’s autimatically being hired?

Why the **** would he want the KU job? He won’t have a winning season before he’s 70. I guess if they’re willing to pay $4 million a year it might make sense.

that's what I wonder..I will say that if KU doesn't announce something by end of Monday then maybe Les is holding out for something better

I know he was at $4.4M at LSU and that they tripled the length while turning it into monthly payments. But I have no idea whether that money is clean & clear or if it goes away if Miles takes another job that pays more than LSU is paying him. Obviously the best case for a school that wanted to hire him would be if Miles was making $1.5M from LSU and you could pay him $3M to make him whole at the pay scale he was at.

Looks like it's clean and clear as of yesterday.

Miles let LSU off the hook to the tune of $5 million, agreeing to take a $1.5 million lump sum to settle the remaining $6.5 million buyout the school contractually owed the 65-year-old. Five million dollars? That’s enough to hire two more Dave Arandas. The school could buy a Manhattan penthouse apartment and decorate it with Mardi Gras beads and Cajun cookbooks. It could own a 145-foot yacht and sail around the world to teach the rest of this planet the lyrics of "Callin’ Baton Rouge." Heck, LSU could buy a small island in Belize.

There are more jobs to pop up. Colorado could be an option if the Buffs do fire Mike MacIntyr (Miles has ties there having served for five years as offensive line coach in the 1980s and he would be very interested, those close to him say).

I'm finding it really strange how much interest is being reported. It almost seems that Les and RG have not met yet and Les's people are letting RG that he is interested via the rumor mill.

you mean RG right ?
I'd be disappointed if RG hasn't had a conversation with either Miles or his agent to find out interest levels if indeed RG is planning to part ways with Mike Mac.

yes I meant RG. What do you take from all of the Les would take the job in the media? Are they too far apart on the price?

Can we send Kansas this guy instead

Less is such an egotistical idot.

don't have a clue- I think Miles was courted by KU first and his relationship with Long goes way to to Michigan...who know if RG has even reached out ..I really think Miles is a Jayhawk which is crazy

I would bet that MM also knows. My guess is win or lose, MM is let go after senior day. And as long as MM knows, I’d think RG is talking to candidates on the back channels.

Oh please, oh please, oh please....

I have long been a fan of the next great, young, inventive coach climbing the ranks concept.... but THIS time... we NEED a name!

The PAC12 South is now - and after USC fires Helton, going to be - STACKED with name coaches. We must get one!

CU needs to be discussed nationally again. Miles' legitimacy definitely helps that. If you get a big name who has won a national championship, you hype it, market it, and get on sports channels.

Kids definitely still watch ESPN as do adults and donors. http://www.nationalmediaspots.com/network-demographics/ESPN.pdf

Others have better scouting opinions about the coaching search than I do, but I think Miles would be solid. I'd bet a lot of others on the board are more concerned about botching the hire than picking nits about whether Miles vs. Lake vs. <fill-in-a-top-candidate> is the grand slam guy.

I want somebody who will win football games more than the press conference guys. I do think the Mad Hatter is a fascinating enough dude to force the Denver media to talk about CU football-especially with the Broncos being the best 3-6 team in the NFL.
