Lubick p*ssed at CSU

He's a bitter old man. He should have stepped down a couple of years ago. Instead, sunny just continued to dig the program into a deeper hole. The AD did what had to be done. Buh bye sunny.

This is not good news for CSU, but I honestly don't know what they could have done differently. Sonny wasn't ever going to step down voluntarily, and it had become obvious that he'd lost his touch on the field. Donations were down, attendance was down, and CSU needed to make a change or risk losing what little support they had.

After reading the article it sounds worse than it probably really is. For all we know Sonny is simply stepping away completely rather than lingering. I am sure his feelings were hurt. As Sacky says, he simply lost his touch.

He hasn't said much and If I were him I'd keep my mouth shut. If you don't have anything good to say than don't say anything at all. Don't tarnish your legacy with a poor choice of words.

"Sonny and everybody else knows he will always be a member of the Ram family," Kowalczyk said Wednesday. "He's made his decision. Everyone will certainly respect that and move forward. What he's done is appreciated and honored and always will be."

While he keeps his words measured out of respect for new coach Steve Fairchild and his staff, which includes a number of Lubick's former players as well as his son Marc, emotion still tears into his voice when anyone raises the subject of Kowalczyk or CSU president Larry Penley.

"I wish Steve Fairchild all the best," he said of his former offensive coordinator.

I wish him the best. He made the series much more exciting than it probably has ever been.

I understand how pissed he is or whatever, but it was time to start over, clearly... the original article that came out in the RMNews had a quote from him saying, all he wanted was one more yr and they couldn't give me that... blah blah. If it was only one more year, why is it such a big deal?

All he had to do was have a winning record and he could have stayed at CSU forever.

He should be glad he's managed to stick around for as long as he has.

What a grumpy old bastard. Sunny's true colors are coming through, and it's not pretty.

Meh, I dont blame Sonny. I know if my former employer told me to get the **** out and threw in some token chump change (aka hush money) to continue shilling their services, I'd tell them to take a flying leap too.

Honestly though, it does reflect a bit badly on both sides. But look at it this way, at least this SHOULD be the last we hear from Sonny in Sheepland.

Screw CSewe, screw old fart Lubick, and screw Fairchild. I dont think we have to worry about the lammies for at least 3 yrs. This recruiting class will offer no help whatsoever. Their current players couldnt beat CU last year, and they have to break in a new QB in addition to a few other key positions next year. We are definately getting better, and they will be mediocre in MWC at best.

I say we focus on more important matters to CU than the fracking morons at Ft Lubick, oh I mean Fairchild Field or whatever they wind up calling it.

Now that lubejob has been shown the door, I have no problem rooting for CSU against its MWC opponents.

Nope. I still cant. I used to root for the sheep, especially since I used to be one of them. But then I saw how ridiculous their fans got after they beat us in 2006, and 2002. Man, they were just so dang obnoxious. So I hope they continue to fail for a few more years as they need to be humbled.

Seriously.. with the true hatred that they have/show towards CU, I could never root for them! unless they played the Lil' Red..Who I hate more than, more than... uhh, more than... There is no comparison worthy of this kind of hatred.

OK, you got me there man. That may be the only time I would root for the goats, as I could NEVER root for Brenaska. :sad2:

That article is a total piece of ****. The move had to be made, time to move on.

I agree, he has lost it, and i think he's been out of it for a long time. The fact is they have lost a lot of good assistant coaches, and they were a HUGE reason for the success up in fort. They did bring Kerr back which is a good move for them.

I think the hatred towards CSU is misguided. They don't inspire hate in me. The need to be relevant first. How can you have such hate for a team that isn't really a player? It's like hating Wyoming. Why bother?

Never seen a guy get such a free pass...

Lubick has done nothing but hurt the CSU program the way he has handled things but the media has made him bigger than the program.

I have always seen Lubick as a jerk but his 'aw shucks' approach sure plays well with the media. The way he promoted the hate of CU showed me that he lacked class.

Coach Mac did the exact same thing vis-a-vis *ebraska.

Look at the situation he was in - he's second fiddle to the larger in-state school. His budget is a fraction of CU's. His facilities are terrible in comparison. He can't recruit the same players. He plays in an inferior conference. All that stuff going against him and he needs to focus his team and fans on something else. That something else was CU. Big, bad, CU from that bastion of hippie-ness - Boulder. And it worked, for a while. Now CSU is back to where they were 20 years ago - a pathetic school in a pathetic conference with a band box stadium that holds 30,000 (maybe) but regularly gets about 10,000 in the seats.

Don't be surprised if Fairchild does the same thing. I would.
