CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

Please don’t forget to mention they also blew a 20-7 lead with the national title directly on the line in January.

I’d also much, much rather have the guy who’ll never get a chance to coach at that level over the guy who just blatantly proved he can’t get it done by narrowly coming up short not only once, but twice.
I'll take "coming up short" if if what you're coming up just short of is national championships and beating the #1 team in the nation as a top 5 team.

No experience in the west. Deal breaker. He probably doesn’t even know how to send a telegraph or defend a wagon train. He’ll never make it out here in the west.

Don’t be silly. It’s much cooler and nicer to be fighting for bowl eligibility than being in a situation where you can just blatantly choke at an elite level. I also think that the Mountain West would be an amazing fit for CU. Or I may not be serious at all. Your call.

Does anyone think that UGA's defensive performance against Bama today is a red flag?

It made me more enthusiastic. What am I missing?
We should have limited our search to DCs who have never given up 35 points before. Oh, wait. There aren't any. Doh!

:ROFLMAO:
Sorry, it's late, and I'm drunk on hope. And bourbon.

Here @ahoelsken ill write the letter for you.

“Dear Rick George,

I heard the rumors that you were interested in hiring Georgia’s defensive coordinator, Mel Tucker. I have to tell you, I have some serious concerns regarding him. First, he let Jalen Hurts a BACKUP QB absolutely shred his defense in the SEC championship game after the likely Heisman winner got injured. I mean, I know that Alabama has an amazing team and offense and averages 49 points a game. I also know that Jalen Hurts has won a national championship and SEC OPOTY trophy. I also realize that they have pretty much one of the greatest college coaches we’ve all ever seen, but that’s irrelevant. LOSING to Nick Saban 35-28? Seriously? What kind of choke artist are you trying to bring to Boulder? If his defenses can’t beat the #1 team in the nation how can we ever expect to be anything but mediocre?

Signed,

Asshole skin.

We’re going to rag on the defense for giving up 35 to that offense? Lmao! They average 49 points a game! Alabama is the future national champion, you all know this. Georgia came up short but it wasn’t because their defense.

Actually it is because of their defense.

Why are some fans so concerned about continuity? Cannot fire too many assistants, cannot change the offensive or defensive systems.

Why exactly did we fire MM?
Yep.

Need some continuity to the traditions of the program. Keep a Buff on staff for 1 of the 10.

Need some continuity for knowledge of the locker room and stability issues, including recruiting class. Keep a popular coach & recruiter.

You accomplish that by having 8 or 9 new assistants. We needed a change for a reason.

Here’s his reply

“Dear A,

thank you for your concern and your interest in our program. We take that very seriously and your letter caused me to do some further research. During said research it has come to my attention that said candidate was also directly responsible for blowing a thirteen point lead against said coach earlier this year. That is quite obviously unacceptable for a program with our ambition and we’re therefore happy to inform you that your letter and your letter only caused us to drop his name from consideration. Our next target is a brilliant offensive mind currently employed by the San Francisco 49ers who already has ties to the university. A former boss of his with a great legacy at CU is full of praise for him, too!

Thank you for reaching out,

RG”
