Maybe it’s just me but why would a 4 star athlete commit to UTSA over a year before national signing day? UTSA??

UTSA has been recruiting above their heads. The program hasn't been FBS that long but they have been all over Texas and the surrounding area working kids hard. Their last couple classes have included some kids with offers from "bigger" name schools.

Very possible that in their work they saw a kid early on who has a ton of potential and got in on him before he realized he was going to blow up and before other schools could get him offered.

In that situation he feels the love and commits, only to start having a bunch of much higher profile programs now come in on him. UTSA is going to have to work hard to hold him but they have a better chance of that than they would of getting him now had he not committed early to them.

In a strange turn of events, Burrle went from being a 4* on every site to a 3* after being a UTSA commit. ;)

There is no reason for concern in his senior highlights. Explosive tackler with great coverage skills and a ton of speed. Only question may be on his height -- is he a legit 6'0". Looks like a perfect fit for the STAR position in our defense and I wouldn't mind getting back in the game here.
