Official Buffs vs. Air Force Game Thread

No. Stop blaming fans for being confident. CU shouldn’t be getting dominated by this team. It’s a piss poor effort by the coaching staff and players right now.
No ****. AF is a dangerous team and CU is not exactly world beaters coming off a physical, emotional win. Not exactly ****ing hard to see this type of effort coming.

How many plays did he miss that would have been touchdowns? Plus the interception that was off target into double coverage.

Defense was awful and they certainly don't get a pass. But 132 yards of offense with a turnover deserves a lot of blame.
How many yards did we rush for?

I don't care how many of you pansies don't like my take. But CU hasn't been the same since we tried to become a throwing team with every offensive coaching staff.

The simple fact is that when the Buffs run the Buffs win.

I don't care if we have an option or not. I want to see huge OLs, Dual threat QB and a smashmouth hard hitting defense.

Until that returns, we aren't going to win.

Need more proof? Keep watching these 2 star recruits running all over our much higher recruited players.
You mean like they run for all kinds of yards against everyone? You seem to think everyone should just run the option. I mean, the service academies are so good at it, imagine how good it would look with top notch talent...nevermind the fact that top notch talent really wouldn't look any different running it, and top notch talent don't even consider option schools.

Are you talking about the deep throws? Deep throws are hard, and I give pretty much every QB a pass on deep throws.
The under throw of KD that the DB undercut and got a hand on. The pass 3 yards out of bounds to Viska in the end zone. How about those?

And you're wrong if you don't expect a QB to throw a catchable ball on deep passes. The WRs have not been given a chance to make a play on the ball. That's one of the main things that Johnson preaches.

If you think what you saw in the 1st half is anything close to acceptable QB play, then I don't know what to say. It was horrible.

P.S. He also got himself crushed by making a terrible RPO read. Also, when an offense has that many false starts, the QB is primarily to blame because he doesn't have command of his huddle.

He doesn't make reads and never has, Nik.

The throw to Viska in the corner is probably the most forgiveable of his off throws today. That one basically had to be perfect to be completed, as it was well covered. The "under throw" to KD, I'm assuming you're talking about the throw to the sideline on the second drive, again wasn't actually a bad throw, and despite what you want to think, it wasn't an easy throw either.

I coached at a High School that runs this offense or a variation of it. It’s good enough to win at a good clip, but when specifically schemed against (using more than 3 DL) with superior talent, it gets shut down pretty quickly.

Not having a special defensive package for this week that has 4 true DL on the field is a major coaching gaffe. We don’t have the size or talent at OLB to run our standard 3 man DL front and hold up

The interception he threw with 5 left in the half was horrible. If that ball was even remotely in stride it’s 6.

You also need to get over this idea that because I can look at his or anyone else's play and not be furious with every mistake that I think his play was acceptable. Montez has had two straight garbage first halves of football. He didn't play well enough in the first today.

We are going to have to stack the box and run blitz the 2nd half. Gotta trust our corners to cover man on man.

Right now AFs QB is throwing better than ours. Not good

Two weeks in a row, we’ve made big defensive scheme adjustments at the half - leading to wins. That’s our only hope. We haven’t stopped them once yet. AF could easily have 35 pts.

No. If he throws it right where it needs to be, it's complete, but Nixon was going to be tackled immediately regardless.

Rami getting blown off the ball by their OL. That's got to stop.
He’s getting doubled every play because AF has 7-8 guys (OL, wing backs and TE) blocking 4 on every play. It’s a simple numbers game in the front seven. Buffs need to stack the LOS and play tight man coverage and for a running team to throw accurate passes to beat them, not deep balls where the nearest Buff defender is 5 yards away

I don't care about easy. If it was easy, anyone on scholarship could be a good QB at a P5 program. The QB has to make the plays that are available at a high percentage while avoiding big mistakes and showing leadership. Have we sen that today?
