Can't call it other games since CU is done but here it is.

Conference championships weekend.

Who goes where weekend. With the number of bowls needing to fill slots all these teams will be playing again but these games will be deciding who gets to take home their conference’s trophy and who goes to which bowl.

Thanks Larry Scott for getting the PAC12 the lousiest time slot. (14) Oregon will be playing (6) Utah at Levi’s Stadium. We will get to see tens of thousands of fans disguised as empty seats again. The PAC needs Utah to win this one to have a chance at the playoff and an extra couple million dollars per team.

Saturday starts with three early games. The one that matters is the B12 championship game with (9) Baylor playing (7) Oklahoma. These two played three weeks ago but get to play again. The winner would need a whole string of things to fall in place to get into the playoff but they will try to make their claim.

Second round of games starts with (19) Cincinnati at (18) Memphis. Winner is almost guaranteed the G5 slot in the major bowls.

Mid-afternoon is the most important game of the day. (4) Georgia plays (2) LSU. A Georgia win would almost guarantee that both team end up in the playoff. An LSU win almost certainly puts Georgia out. The PAC and the B12 are strongly cheering for LSU.

The night games are (9-3, unranked) Virginia and (3) Clemson. Should Virginia somehow pull an upset it would probably open a playoff spot. Not likely but possible.

The last game of the night will see hordes of fans in red descend on the dome in Indianapolis for the B1G championship. Wisconsin (12) fans, the Ohio State University (1) fans, and probably a bunch of confused fusker fans who bought tickets because Scott promised them they would be there this year and based on moral victories they belong.

The B1G game outcome probably doesn’t change tOSU being in the playoff and Wisconsin is out. Barring a miracle Clemson is in and LSU is almost certainly a lock. The fourth spot is Georgia’s if they win, most likely Utah if they win and Georgia loses. The B12 would need both of those to lose.

Our local teams are all out already. Both Mines and Pueblo lost playoff games last weekend but had outstanding seasons.

Not understanding why Friday night is a terrible time slot for the Pac-12. Saturday slate is really crowded.

IIRC the numbers for that slot have not been good in the past.

Also doing a 6:00pm local KO in Levi's Stadium on a Friday night is an invitation to having huge numbers of empty seats with the combination of traffic and it being a workday.

Playing on Saturday would get them included in all the discussions in the pre-, post- and half-time shows in other games.

The location sucks, not the time slot.
I think I remember reading that the time slot actually gets us more exposure and ratings versus when it is on Saturday.

Makes sense. I mean, if it didn't why would the network choose to lose advertising revenue by having the game on Friday evening?

I think the issue is that the AAC and MWC have a prime slot tomorrow. Yes, they do go head to head against the SEC but still. that hurts.

It’s one thing if it were in the Sun Bowl, but the fact that there weren't even any on the west side when in years past they have been sitting on their asses. Actually was decent this time with the exception of the Nebraska game. At least we got the last laugh.

Is there still truth to the rumor that the Pac CCG is moving to Vegas when they get the Raiders' new stadium built?

If so, that can't happen soon enough.

Already announced like since last summer...what rock are you living under?

For now, 2020 and 2021 are there. Rams new stadium in LA may be hosting some years eventually as well.

I tend to agree given the Saturday slate. Noon EST is too early for your showcase game, nobody wants to go up against the SEC game at 4 and then you have 2 games starting within 30 minutes of each other Saturday night and one of those is a huge draw in the B1G game. Also, the 8pm start helps alot for pulling in a national audience, which is what this game should be all about. It doesn't make any sense to play your conference championship game in a late window where half the country will be asleep after the first half.

Regarding the complaints about a 5pm local start, for anyone planning to go to a game of this magnitude taking Friday off should be a no-brainer, or at the very least take Friday afternoon off. And the fans traveling in from out of town are obviously off anyway.

Have you been to a championship game at Levi's before?

The ACC championship game was unwatchable last year, and I fully expect it to be ugly this year. Even ESPN thinks so. Why do you think they're having Herbstreit work tonight and take a red-eye to Atlanta for gameday tomorrow? As far as the time slot, I don't mind it-but let's see how the two Vegas games go. Should be easier to sell out there.

was this sarcasm? The B1GCG has been sparesly attended the last several years, notably two years ago, last time Wisconsin played. Even more notably, the last time OSU and UW played the place was empty.

Even using the B1G's method of reporting attendance by 'tickets distributed' vs 'turnstile count', the B1GCCG hasn't sold out in a long time.

Yep. Oregon vs Arizona. Didn’t feel like a football game. Look forward to seeing what Vegas does.
You just can't give those people excuses to avoid the game and having a game that early during rush hour does just that.

Yes, and if Scott moves that **** to L.A. I am going to be pissed.

It will be there at some point. Would not surprise me if Phoenix gets it as well. Those three sites would actually all be solid.

This is another thing that drives me bat**** about that god-awful stadium downtown-we don't have a retractable roof so we can't get events like this or the final four.

It was in reference to the declarations made by the bugeaters that they would be winning their division this year. Reportedly a decent number of them actually bought tickets and made hotel and flight reservations confident that their savior would have them there this year.

Both Oregon and Utah should travel well. I would expect a decent crowd.

I hate to say it, but I like the ducks in this one. That’s gonna hurt the conference, but i like their chances against Utah. Hope I’m wrong.

I’d really love to see Wisconsin beat OSU, though. That would create all kinds of fun chaos.

Vegas should be the site for the P12 CCG once that stadium is built, it is pretty sweet looking and in a great location.

Vegas has the capacity to handle the fans from each school even when booking at the last minute. It also has enough other things going on that a lot of fans will just use the game as an excuse to go.

Add that December in the bay area can be unpleasant, Vegas in December is very appealing.

From a business standpoint if they want to show the corporate sponsors a great time Vegas is much superior.
