RG and LC had the whole thing pretty locked down last time around so I don't see enough stuff leaking to warrant it IMO. Between Barzil and this thread it shouldn't take long anyway to see when a credible new rumour has been posted.

yup. only leaks came from the coaching agent side.
So tightly contained that I literally talked to 3 different local media people, a well-placed booster and a couple parents of players the weekend it was going down after we'd heard 3 finalists with something imminent... and all of them were unsure while having heard different names. Amazing leak control in the CU AD these days.

I'm dying for news, but I think RG/LC will have an announcement, not a progress report soon. I just feel it. I'd love EB, but it could be anyone, even a stop-gap for just a couple of seasons. I think the biggest thing, is just rallying the troops, assistants that will remain, and get back to work for progression in Spring ball.
At this late in the game, for coaching interviews, it is more them coming here to see RG in the middle of the night and meeting the remaining infrastructure in place (i.e. talk to assistants, academic team, see facilities/school, really get to know RG/LC) and see if a joint vision exists.
As I think more about the assistants, unless MT takes them, it is a pretty s**tty situation for them. I feel for them and their families, as they were stabbed in the back. They may be out jobs with a family to support. Unless an assistant really has no future with the new HC and are just cons/negative (not like MT con man); I think they will remember if CU stands by them for a season or two. In many cases, I think CU should stand by them, it is not like MT did them favors. I even think about Tillman, who many criticize; if CU stands bye him for a year or two, he will never forget it. Those sorts of favorable impressions can help in future recruiting, if he (or another assistant) were to land at a large blue-blood school and then the schollies are short, or there is a kid (i.e. Alfano) who needs a change. They might say try CU, I'll put a call in for you.
I think about the recruits and young players somewhat in terms of the assistants. They did not come here for MT alone. I think it could be easy for them to turn their backs on MT. However, it may hard for them to stay 100% (be optimistic, think of positives, feel they are wanted, feel like they have a shot at reaching their own goals, etc...) if most all the assistants go. Bottom line, they bought into school, teammates, and probably most importantly a "vision." It could have been MT's CU vision; but with MT gone that CU vision can still remain, overcome, and thrive. The program does not need to be burnt down and start over again from scratch.
Also, if the team can rally, play with a chip on their shoulder, and just move forward 100% (hair on fire) as a team, coaching staff, and a family; anything is possible. What if Drew Pearson is so incredibly p****d, that one weekend, he shows up with a bunch of Cowboys alum?; and the next weekend Jerry Rice does the same?

I'm not going to force any of them out the door, but I'll say this. I'm not worried at all about Chev and Hagan leaving. Els I suppose could go, but he was the third of the three guys Melvin kept off FHCMM's staff. I hope Kap stays, and I'm going to assume he's still here (his twitter says he's still here) until I hear a move to MSU confirmed by a source of ours (Adam, Chase, Brian Howell, etc). The coordinators and Tillman I'm not going to lose sleep over. I'd like to see Michalowski stay here-He's become one of the better recruiters on our staff.

I remember there being a lot of chatter around Ryan Day coming here last year right before Urban decided he wanted to retire....They're doing a hell of a job keeping this thing hush-hush, and they've learned from the mistakes they've made in the past. Hopefully we tack a big buyout on the new HC's contract in the wake of the Melvin experience

Im not disagreeing with you, but I do see an alternative.
Maybe EB knows that last time he was at CU represented the epitome of distinction, and he’s really weighing what he can bring to the table. EB didn’t even consider the idea that he could be a HC in college until Wednesday. Maybe he his smart enough to know that forming a staff for a college program is much different than for an NFL team. The thought that he might be taking his time deciding if he can really pull this off, put a staff together, put things together in such a way that would allow for him to be successful here.....might actually be representative that EB has matured the way we speculate/hope.
