Mentoship

i was reading about how some players are being mentored. why does that mean they have to miss practices and stuff?

oops i meant mentorship. but a mento ship is also good because it is the freshmaker.

I'm guessing Hawk is trying to tell these players that some things are more important than football.

Yeah, God forbid that these guys learn about life outside of football and what it means to be a productive member of society. I seriously don't understand why people get worked up over players missing practices to do things like this.

I have always been taught, playing baseball mostly, that sports is a privilege you must earn in the classroom first.

I would guess they get upset because they are missing time on the football field. If they need mentoring to get there priorities in order fine with me,but they had better be ON THE FIELD come august because i'm tired of cu having players out for various reasons.

Cu graduates players,it's time to start winning TOO.

You have some ****ed up priorities.

Yeah, i'm screwed up to think we can graduate players and actually WIN TOO! Man,that's messed up.

Problem is, the same people who wonder why people get upset or worried are the same ones who start complaining when cu loses.

Cu has lost 5 games in every season since 2002.

I mentored a squad in iraq, that was a "priority"

that stat depresses me.

better for hawk to crack on these guys now in spring ball and hopefully impress upon them that they need to get their acts together academically if they want to play in the fall...

if we still have a bunch of guys being "mentored" in fall camp, then i will worry. the good news with sip and burton is that they know the defense and they are experienced players. i am sure part of the mentoring is some nasty additional conditioning so i think they will be motivated to improve in their classwork.

The thought of any of my head coaches mentoring me would have scared me ****less.

Is it just me, or does anyone else picture Hawk and the members of his mentoring circle sitting around picking Creedence Clearwater Revival tunes on their yukeleles, then drifting into a deep discussion about how Tony Roberts, Ghengis Khan, and Saint-Exupery's 'The Little Prince' are all inter-related?

nope.

i kinda see it in a different light. hawk locks them into a study hall with one of the staff members. then, he personally comes back and quizzes them. and then he adds to their already long punitive list of extra conditioning for any wrong answers from the quizzes. then, pitt makes them puke for awhile and then they go back into the study hall. repeat.

at least that's how i think it should work... who knows what they are actually doing?

That was my exact thought.

How cool would it be if a mentoship sank in an ocean of diet coke?? :smile2:

Coke Zero has been around for ages. They call it "Coke Light" in Europe. They don't have regular Diet Coke in Europe. I guess the folks over there don't like it. So they came up with Coke Light. So Coke had two diet drinks in basically the same package being sold in two different places. So they re-packaged Coke Light in the US as Coke Zero.

I can't stand Coke Zero/Coke Light personally.

I've never tried it, but i heard about it enough during the tourney

that is false, coke zero does not have the taste of coke. it tastes like disgusting chemicals.

Erroneous! ERRONEOUS! Erroneous on both counts.

The Cherry Coke Zero I'm drinking right now is the deliciousness.
