As weird as it is, this is the part of the story that stood out the most:

"Nobody is satisfied with a .500 record, but how many years did it take to get Oklahoma's program (going) after Barry Switzer left?" Krause asked. "And more recently, it's been a long haul for Mark Mangino (Kansas) and Gary Pinkel (Missouri), but they've done it one brick at a time. Turnarounds don't happen over night.

Did the AD really say that with a straight face?

How does that t-shirt not mention the power towel or whatever it was called?

Come on.

They could even get a hitchhikers' guide reference in to get the engineers in on the joke.

I actually kinda like Prince... I think he's a good guy.

Dunno, making his coaching staff run stairs with their kids was way over the top I think! That and the fact that the guy signed so many JUCO players tells me that he is very desperate. Just my two pesos in the matter.

Everything in West Texas aka North Mexico is paid in pesos! Besides....the way the American Dollar is crashing the Peso will catch up to it soon! :smile2:

When you sign 20 JuCo's a year.... shouldn't your turnaround happen.... oh.... within two years? Just sayin is all...

Hey man, I don't want to pull the plug on the pants party, but have we actually beaten the wildcats with Coach Prince at the Helm?

The cats may have fallen apart at the end of last season, but they showed flashes of brilliance (well...maybe not brilliance...) in the first half of the season.

Everytime I hear about the power towel I start to laugh............

Dude, I was impressed when we played them and they ran on the field in a 'squad' formation. I was expecting the bullsh!t that Snyder pulled and this guy is bringing in Jucos but working at getting some discipline in their lives; this could be good for the kids and the football program. Obviously this is from a 40K foot observation, but I like the product/people he put on the field much better than the Juco factories at Fresno and ASU (now that Ericson has set up camp).

I got no problem with Prince, and if his assistants don't like the job requirements, they can move on...

Prince has been a mixed bag in his first two years, but I don't know how anyone can say he's building that program the right way. Between the JUCOs and the overhaul of coaching staff each of the last two offseasons (not to mention a rumored affair with the wife of a departed assistant), I really don't see how he's setting that program up for long-term success.

This is true, but with a program so reliant on JUCO players, you aren't really "building" from year to year. I'm curious to see what happens if Kansas starts to regularly beat them every year.

Unfortunately, the American Dollar statement is 100% true. An extension for Prince has to be good news for the rest of the Big 12 - you don't build a football program with JC recruits.

That's why he is recruiting JC players - he needs to produce while he sitll has Freeman - he's desperate. I'm really surprised K-State is negotiating an extension with Prince. I live in KC and KSU fans are not happy at all with Prince. He's under alot of pressure to stop losing to MU and KU. All three schools are very close to one another, and KSU fans are tired of losing to KU and MU.

I've said it before - Ron Prince is an enigma to me. The things he does and the way he comports himself lead me to believe he's walking the fine edge of insanity. But he's 2-0 against us and 2-0 against Texas.

Weirdness.

I really agree with that. Talking to people in the know at KSU, they went heavily with Jucos because they were so weak on both lines and did not feel they had time to rely developing HS players.

Time will tell with Prince, I suspect that things will collapse overtime.

Wasn't Snyder always recruiting JUCOs?

Why is Prince's tactic any different?

It isn't. I get the feeling that the folks in the little apple think their program has elevated itself to the point where they can compete with the big boys for HS talent.

They can't.

Bill Snyder was not supposed to be the most loveable guy in the world, either. So maybe it's par for the course in Manhattan.

Not to the extent Prince has. One of the reasons Prince was hired because relationships with high school coaches had deteriorated over the last few years under Snyder. It sure doesn't seem like he is doing much to correct the problems on that front.
