Colorado Buffaloes v Texas Longhorns - Alamo Bowl, 29 Dec, 7pm MT - GAME THREAD

As solid as he’s looked tonight, very few freshman could have come in with ZERO spring ball and won the job. Noyer starting the season was the right call. That being said, Lewis should have gotten more drives this year.

And wow how refreshing it is to see QB playing QB and not an athlete (Montez) or Tebow style (Sefo) playing QB in the black and gold. Been 13 years since I’ve seen that*.

*Cody was an undersized guy but he was a QB.

What? If Lewis was our QB all season, we win games like this.
I would have had no problem him playing all year, but CU was 4-1 with Noyer. You have/had no idea how Lewis would have been good all year other than he was the highest graded QB on the roster as a true freshman with no spring ball, almost no summer, and 3 weeks of fall ball. I get you and others hate Dorrell and Chev, but Lewis has played 3 series. I think he looks good and am excited about his development. The "I told you so" is predictable

UT backup throwing a fiddy burger up on us. Not great.

I forgot even WSU won the Alamo bowl. How embarrassing.

JVD covering a slot WR ain't it. Great safety help.
Wrong play by Appleton on that!
JVD would have had the under coverage and Appleton needed to take him across the field deep. He played bracket instead of coverage and screwed the pooch!
Kinda a Douche call by Texas!

The team was 4-1 because Brew was elite and Landman was one of the best three defensive players in college football. Noyer had flashes but got worse as the season went along. My point the entire time was that Lewis’ development was more important than any individual game or season record. Given the upside flashes he’s shown against our toughest opponent, I think I was dead right.

The only critique I have on Lewis is some of his passes, especially deep, have not been very accurate.
