Top 10

Hewho hath not sinned cast the first stone... where are we?

Uh, what? We're a mediocre team right now. Last I checked, so is Notre Dame. Neither team should be in the top 25.

BTW, read the synopsis of the team. The guy basically says that ND could make a bowl game. WTF? Since when is being a borderline bowl team a ticket to being ranked?

Glad to see that ND is still paying ESPN and everyone to get on the list. I think I agree with about half of those rankings and the other half are just head scratchers.

"Backup quarterback John Chiles will spend the summer trying to get a better grip of the offense. With the Longhorns trying to replace tailback Jamaal Charles, coach Mack Brown said he intends to use starting quarterback Colt McCoy and Chiles on offense."

Well Mack, I am glad to see you want to use a quarterback on offense!

Any one willing to put the texas tech Tampons at #8 deserves no credibility. Screw ND, Tech at #8?:wtf::rofl: This guy couldn't pick his nose if you glued his palm to his lip.

Ya, fair enough. Making a bowl game does not put you in the top 25... or even close.

TT is pretty funny. Everybody sports wood over them, they whack their OOC opponents by 6 td's and then get spanked by the big physical DL's and running games of the B12 big boys. They finish 7-5 or 8-4, with 4 W's coming against total patsies. TT is a joke....

I can't believe they're ranked above Mizzou.

I think the jizz over Tech has to do with Crabtree and their QB playing together for a 2nd consecutive year. Historically, there hasn't been much cohesion on the Tech offense. The system is the same, but they're constantly changing players.

Their defense still sucks, though. I can't imagine how they could be considered the 8th ranked team in the country. I'm not sure they're the 8th ranked team in the Big 12.

OK, yeah, they're better than KSU, ISU, *ebraska, OSU and Baylor. I guess that puts them at #7.

Tech has a KU '07 type schedule with a cupcake OOC and a good draw in the north.
It's not hard to imagine TT at 7-0 going into the teeth of the B12 schedule.

Man I hope like hell Ohio State doesn't make it back to the championship game. They are becoming the Buffalo Bills of the college game right now...............

I hope they do make it back. and lose! Especially since its college football and they get voted into the championship game instead of earning their way, it would really hurt them for years.

Unfortunately, they won't be going away if that happens. They brought in a monster class last year (including Pryor) and they basically have wrapped up their class for 2009, a cinch for the top 5.

Two. We should find out pretty quickly just how good they are with that USC game early on.

Ranking ND in the Top 25 is a slap in the face and insult to about 50 other football programs who should be ranked ahead of them right now. ND not only had a horrible record last season, they had arguably the worst offense in all of college football, and their D wasn't anything special.

Fresno State at #23 seems inflated - put them in the Big 12 and you could add on 2 or 3 more losses. The WAC is Mid-major all the way. If Fresno State wins the baseball CWS it will be only their 2nd NC, the other one was in women's softball.

Texas Tech has the best pass defense in the Big 12 last season allowing 188.38 YPG, good for 12th in the nation. Their run defense is not great but they return and handful of starters on defense, not to mention their whole offense. I think whoever wins the Tech OU game will win the Big 12 south and most likely the Big 12. Since Mike Leach took over as coach entering the 2000 season (8 seasons) he has compiled a record of 65-37 with 8 bowl games. If for some reason they ever do decide to run the ball the starters on their offensive line AVERAGE 336 pounds per starter. I am glad we played Tech last season, and won, not this one.

goddamn, that list got me furious. who the **** makes these mother****ing lists?

What specifically got you riled up so much? Outside of Notre Dame, I enjoyed the list and the comments.

Starting with West Virginia, CU certainly has chances to make a statement this year.

The big 12 is definitely getting a lot of respect, and it is nice that it runs deeper than a team or two, with NU, KU, TX, OK, TT all getting ink. Yep - plenty of opportunities coming up for CU to turn some heads.

i dont know i just got really pissed off. i cant open the link right now for somereason, but later when i can see who was listed, ill try to tell you.

spot on for leach and tech. barring unforeseen injuries I see Tech making a serious run at their 1st Big XII Championship. I think if they can win in Norman this year the conference is theirs for the taking. Also they have Texas at home this year too. I believe 18 starters return or some crazy number like that. The Tech defense improved every game under the new DC after he took over in the earlier - midseason last year. just my humble opinion, but Tech is the #1 worry for me for the Sooners bagging #6 and a 3-peat this year in the Big XII.

and from what I am hearing..... Mack Bown and Texas's 7 year streak of 10+ wins will end this year too....

Tech is returning just about every starter from last season, and fields the biggest line in football...not college football...all of football. They should be VERY good this season.

Ohio State returns just about everybody as well. They should be much improved. I don't like the Big 10 in general, and I hate Ohio State, but they won't roll over in their bowl game this season, I don't think.

Notre Dame? We'll see. Phil Steele wrote a couple of good reasons why he thinks they'll be a bowl team. Again, we'll see.

GO BUFFS!

At least Fresno State can beat K State. And that is something Texas and us couldn't do last year.

Tech is going to be very good this year. I see Tech going 10-2. I think they beat Texas, but lose to OU. I also see a slip up against KU on the road. Outside of the OU game in Norman, their schedule sets up nicely for a Big XII South Championship run. I still think OU will win the South, but these guys will be right there behind them.

KSU was up and down all last year - Texas was their best game. We have sucked against them the last few years. Last year was an embarrassment.
