Official Arizona State Game Thread

It was a team loss, but the defense still looks like it knows what it is doing. I hate Herm and ASU, but their play calling was very good and the defense got out-schemed. Our offense has no scheme at all
This is false. The defense looked like garbage. As I commented in this very thread, the book is out on CU’s defense: we have zero linebackers who can cover in the pass game. ASU abused them all game.

The offense also got abused. The blindside pass pro is horrible. At least they tried to do things to better emphasize Lewis’ strengths. It didn’t work but they made a concerted effort. Biggest problem in the passing game continues to be passpro.

Special teams was … fine. One blocked FG was fugly.

Y’all gotta stop with the business with the defense being amazing. It is not. We have a few good individual players who have some decent skills. As a unit, in the last two games, they’ve gotten roasted for 876 yards and 65 points. They had one good game against a bad aTm quarterback. Once Jimbo finally could get his OL to block our pressure, it was nighty night when we had Guy Thomas in coverage. It’s snowballed ever since.

Not sure what about this game just gave me this epiphany. But I'm beginning to feel like if Dorrell is allowed to stay for more than through this year, it will cause a similar setback to what Hawkins put CU through. And with the way football is trending with viewership + all the issues that come from CTE, if we have another setback like that, there's no chance of CU ever being even average to slightly above average before football becomes obsolete as a sport. But maybe I'm just really down after this game and being over-dramatic

You have at least 20 games remaining for Dorrell. All of this season and next. Dorrell will likely change assistants in the offseason, which I suppose may give some hope.

ASU isn't good. Y'all just suck really hard. I wish I (an ASU fan) could enjoy this win but I know it's bull ****. The whole South is trash tier.

Yep.

There's no accountability, because outside of 0.5% of Colorado's population, no one cares.

Us stupid ****ers who continue to put ourselves through this are the only ones who give a ****.

There's no media to push for change, there's no larger public fanbase who wants to see something better in Boulder, and let's face it, the vast majority of our alumni are pretty ****ing apathetic too.

So the regents are free to not care, the president is free to not care, the chancellor, same thing. Why should we expect results from this university?

Makes the fact that Tad has been successful all that much more incredible.
We are the "Vanderbilt Football of the West" . . .

I told myself all week that I wasn’t going to waste my energy staying up until 2am watching this garbage but I did it anyway. I really need to re-evaluate my life

It’s clear to me that the issues go way beyond Lewis or play calling. The scheme is garbage. Every completion is a tight window throw with a defender draped all over the receiver. Nobody is ever schemed open. Plays take forever to develop, even screen plays, just awful design. This isn’t getting fixed this year.

Just got to pick your self up and continue to grind. It is part of the learning experinece. The team just has to make some adjustments in coahing personal and add more transfers. Got to get Lewis to play faster. He is making a lot of freshmen mistakes. But he is not the problem with the CU offense. As as a CU fan I will always go into a game thinking CU can win. A lot of doom and gloomers on here will never infect me with their negativity. It is College football, the learning curve is not that much. There is parity. Outside of the elite teams like Alabama. CU can beat any team in College football. We have an elite defense, just got to continue to work to fix the offense.

Never have I felt more vindicated than when I read the game summary this morning. Turned it off after the first 3 and out. Not sure if I’ll tune in at all next week. This program has finally beat the “Give a ****” out of me. Well done, lads. Only took 20 years of wasted seasons and absolute incompetence.

The D is not elite. You are a good fan. And flat out wrong.

Did Dorrell check in to the Defense room this week? Is the defense just like “Well, if you can’t beat them, join them…” typically, if you need to keep a defense guessing, you switch **** up a little, because adjustments.

things were starting to bubble up a few weeks into last season, now it’s a full-blown **** volcano. With everything that I’ve seen so far this year, CU would get stomped some weeks in the Mountain West, the Big Sky, possibly the RMAC.

this program from position coaches to the admin level has really done everything it can to roll out what is presently on the field…even with some good talent in many players. I wouldn’t be surprised, at this point, if those players and the coaches, that have a chance, left.

Nobody out on that field last night was playing like those kids in the yellow jerseys were their enemies, like those kids stole something from them. It’s true, that coaches demeanor translates to the players under them, because the Buffs are playing with the same attitude that KD brings to practices and games.

the Buffs are young, but slim chance that many of these youngsters stick around to grow together with the direction of the program and the ease of getting into a new situation…

Dude, just stfu already your schtick is irritating at this point.

When your offense scores 20 points in 3 games and passes for 65/game it is inevitable that the defense starts giving up points like they did last night. I don't know how this defense doesn't quit with the offense we field every week. I am expecting worse from both sides of the ball goin forward.
