NO bs, is he going to qualify and be eligible or will cu be laughed at yet again? I'm hearing he is in boulder but not participating with other freshman and is going back to cali to take another exam?

Anyone know anything about this true/false?

He better qualify or cu has egg on their face again...

Apparently he was spotted in Vegas hanging with Elvis and Tupac.

just for the sake of argument, if he didn't qualify- CU would have egg on its face why?

Didn't I see that he had to finish up an algebra class?

How does that put egg on CU's face?

No egg, but if for some reason he doesn't make it in, it will be very very disappointing. Didn't Hawk say a while back that everyone was qualified and ready to go? Like a few months ago?

:cry::confused::thumbsup:

Sure, I am always disappointed when kids don't qualify. But being disappointed and having "egg on CU's face" are two different things.

Per AZ (Just giving credit where it's due),

Staff isn't worried about him qualifying. He's in Boulder, but has to finish up an online class (Algebra 2). He still has to go home for some reason, but I'm unsure what the reason is. Regardless, it doesn't sound anything to be too worried about.

Randall Carroll is supposedly coming out to Boulder to watch Darrell practice, so he better qualify!

Supposedly the only one the staff is legitimately worried about is Rippy.

Rep for that, and for your Geer insights the other night.

I've been told not to worry in the past. I'll stop worrying once I hear that he's actually practicing.

I hope he gets his **** figured out - but in the mean-0time, we gots POLKY-BABY!

Anything I know is coming from AZ and his contacts, so I'm curious to that myself.

My contact in housing says that he was there getting his dorm assignment. I would think they wouldn't give anyone a dorm who wasn't a confirmed student. I thought I heard something earlier to the effect that it's not CU that's the problem, it's the NCAA clearing house. My guess is that the CU admission requirements and the NCAA ones did not quite match up and that's where this algebra class comes into play. He's officially a CU student at this point but he hasn't been certified by the NCAA and that's why he's not practicing. This is more or less speculation on my part but I think it is the situation that fits the current set of facts the best. Anyone who has better information, feel free to add or debunk.

What? Our admission requirements are lower than the NCAA minimum? That's pretty crappy if it's true.

Not necessarily lower, just distributed differently. If there are requirements in a particular subject area then that would explain it. I was looking at this and it seemed to make sense: http://nehs.newegypt.us/Departments/Curriculum/NCAAClearingHouse.htm

From above site:

IMPORTANT NOTE: For students enrolling as college freshman during 1996-1997 and thereafter, Division I certification requires 2 years of math, including at least 1 year of Algebra and 1 year of geometry (or a course for which geometry is a prerequisite)

It's quite possible that he managed to not take algebra and he's making up for it now. It doesn't have anything to do with lower requirements, just how they're distributed.

I was wondering when Randall Carroll was comming after it was reported he was in March or so. I hope Rippy gets in but it would not be the end of the world if he does not, if he does not get in would the CU staff still take him if he goes to a prep school for a year?

I thought Hawk said none of our players were in trouble of not qualifying?
