What will it take to keep your interest?

Now he's ALSO been allowed to crater recruiting.
This was concern number one for me when HCKD took over. I just didn't see that he had the chops for this part of the job and I felt our OC (Mister recruiter), would start to mail in his efforts because he got passed over for head coach.

I'm not going to give up. My interest in being a sports fan overall is declining though. I don't follow any of my teams as closely as I used to, and I only attended two games this year (don't expect to make it to Washington).

That being said, I'll continue attending games when I don't have a conflict. What's changed is what conflicts I'd let win over a CU game.

There's also a certain point of pride in continuing to support a team through their toughest times. That makes me feel good when I wear black and gold on a disappointing gameday.

Win 6 games next year and bring in a top 30 recruiting class and I’ll come back in 2023. So I’ll see y’all in a decade or never. Roll Tad.
This.

I don't think there's anything within the realm of possibility that would get me interested for next season- I don't think there is any way KD is gone.

And for those of you talking about "the bare minimum of respectability of 6 wins and a bowl game," here is a non-comprehensive list of P5 programs who have a better record and more bowl game appearances than CU since 2010:

  • Duke
  • Washington State
  • Boston College
  • Illinois
  • Syracuse
  • Purdue
  • Rutgers
  • Wake Forest
  • Vanderbilt
Just about the only P5 teams with a worse record and fewer bowls are Kansas and Oregon State. Hard to support this when CU is worst than almost every single one of its peers.

The original question was "keep" my interest. It can't be kept; it's already lost. Minnesota was the last straw.

The question now is "what will it take to get it back?"

New president and new chancellor who actually want CU to excel in sports. Not who play lip service to it, but show it with choices and actions.

Until then, the search for every AD and for every coach is going to be that of a desperate gambler trying to find a big winner, but ending up used and abused by the sharps and the bookies.

That seems to be more or less what's happening. Although to be frank, I don't think there is much difference in outcome of his efforts regardless of how hard he works at it. (Chev) The worst of it is he's been here doing that work for years now and hasn't improved and it could be argued he's gotten worse at it....somehow.

Here's the thing.....would Duh-rell excite you about football and coming to Boulder if you were a kid? A parent?

I guess Duh-rell does represent the program really well. Old, tired, no swagger, bad track record and living in the past of greatness that was over 30 years ago.

HCKD is the least exciting coach that I can think of in any sport. I would love to see hidden camera footage of his typical day. He seems to delegate every facet of the job. I don't see one ounce of leadership from the guy. And, he does not seem to communicate at all with his staff or players, certainly during the games. I cannot believe it is any different when the cameras are not rolling.

Like someone else said, after the Minnesota game, my apathy hit an all-time high. But, if there is some miracle cure and we get back on track, I have to believe most of us we would be back in the fold. But I am not counting on it. And it is very depressing.

That's hilarious you would point out at the end of the list - Vandy. Remember, no one other than our offensive genius Karl Duh-rell is directly responsible for Vandy's 2014 historic implosion and record shattering dismal offense as OC there. So bad he was fired after one season.

Sounds familiar, minus the relief of a firing.

we need to ****ing win. Period. I want the administration both in the athletics department and main campus to show they are committed to the team and give them the resources they need. I have season tickets and went to the Minnesota game ended up selling the rest. it costs me too much to travel to these games to watch them play this ****ty. we need to be competitive. i am not saying winning national championships but we need to be a real contender in the pac 12 not the bottom feeder. If this continues I am not going to renew my tickets. I have been a season ticket holder since 2002.

Are you talking about watching games on TV and "following the program", or going to the games?

Going to games, in many ways, the Embree era was awesome, easy to get tickets, awesome tailgating, it was all good. Didn't care about the game, and generally not good for the program, but I had a good time. I would make a half effort to watch them on TV, and often turned it off by halftime.

In comparison, the Rise year, I followed the program, watched every game on TV, and generally had excitement for the game, not just the tailgating.

Getting back to having a winning program may be a tough road to take, so at this point, I am just looking forward to getting loaded in the parking lot at 9am, so lets focus on that.

Very impressed that you know what you want from the program 🍺🍺

A clear signal by the administration that they care about the on-field success (read win loss record) of the football program. Underperforming coaches will need to be held accountable and a clear emphasis will be placed on recruiting.

Mainly they just need to decide to keep walking down the path they started walking down with Midnight Mel and not be scared off if the water gets a little warmer or if rules get interpreted a little more freely.

My primary interest in CU football is the experience I have bringing my children to the games...but even they are getting to the point of apathy with the program. For me personally, I just don't have the passion I once did because the AD shows all the signs of 'mailing it in'. They are going through the motions and if they don't care, neither will I. Unfortunately, KD's lack of a pulse has infected the culture on all sides of the program.

A few wins might peak my interest, but until the program shows signs of giving a ****, my wallet is closed

Building the Champions Center is one thing to show support but there has to be support from the people running the place and it is pretty clear that isn't happening.

If it wasn't for those Tad Boyle basketball teams playing well in the Pac-12, I imagine a good chunk of the CU fanbase would have been done with CU athletics all together by now and I'd be one of them.

I'm out for the 2022 season and each season after that will be a year by year basis until the administrative support is there again.

Going to put this football forum back on ignore until 2023. CU later.

- Fire Dorrell
- Get out of the Pac12
- Get a staff that emphasizes recruiting and isn't hamstrung by the Administration

None of this will happen so I'm out. The only game I'm planning on going to next year is @Minnesota. Because their stadium is cool, their tailgates are absolutely epic, I can eat at Davanni's, and I win whichever team wins.

After that, I'll be biding time until early November 2022 when basketball season starts.

yup ok, see you here next week

I'll still watch most all games and stay somewhat connected.

I'll see what they do in the offseason and go from there. I for sure am not attending the last game this year or any next year, but will remain hopeful with the right coaches, maybe we can get to 6 wins.

I guess Dorrell could be somewhat competent with a very, very good staff. He can't overcome those issues if he isn't surrounded by great coaching though.

I look at CU now the same way I look at the Colorado Rockies. You have people in charge who care and want to win, they just have no idea what it actually takes to win. My biggest hope is the new president comes in and makes it very clear to the Chancellor and AD that football and winning is a priority and if they aren't going to make that happen, then they will be gone. This means academically, financially, and not worrying about stupid NCAA rules.

Being competitive. Not having anyone on College Gameday laugh at Oregon's stats from the week prior and say "Yeah, but it was against Colorado". I missed and recorded all of the games I was unable to attend or watch - MInnesota, Arizona State, USC, Cal - and when I saw the scores, I just deleted. Didn't watch a second of any of those games.

The apathy is spreading and it's bad. With recruiting going downhill and who knows what will happen in the portal this off-season, I just don't know how it's going to improve. CU already has a disadvantage with the amount of out-of-state students who leave Colorado immediately after graduation, so I'm not sure how they will be able to rebuild the fan base either.

My kids are now playing competitive sports so my ability to attend Saturday games has been dwindling anyway. I will probably be attending games with the boys when their sports are over - so maybe 2 games/year. Season tickets will not be purchased. We will go to a couple of basketball games per year. I will follow the Olympic sports on-line and maybe catch a soccer game or two.

I am tired of the lack of competitiveness. But to be honest, I am starting to lose passion with college football in general since it's turning into the battle of Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon, Notre Dame with various others popping up from time to time. And that just isn't fun to watch. I say this as someone who married into a Georgia Bulldawg family - I am less interested in watching them this year than I have been too because their games aren't competitive. When they are that much better than other SEC teams that have major advantages over CU, you just realize how big the gap is getting between the haves and have-nots.

And what sucks about all of this - the Oregon State game was one of the most fun CU games I have been to in a long time. The game itself was super entertaining, it was competitive and the ending had us all nervous and screaming and passionate. They can suck me back in so easily - but I just feel like we are heading into a dark, dark era of CU football.

I just got an email from a ticket office staffer asking me to come out to the "LAST HOME GAME!!!!!".

I responded with a brief email saying "The AD and University leadership has failed and seemingly given up on fielding a program that they once said had a goal of competing for championships. As much as I would like to support the players, the University has chosen not to place the same emphasis on the program that they are constantly asking from fans. When the University decides to get serious about fielding a competitive and entertaining football program, I will get serious about making them a priority with my finances and time during Fall weekends.

I am under no illusion that this e-mail is going to move the needle, but I just wanted to provide feedback as to why I will no longer be attending games at Folsom for the foreseeable future."

The staffer responded... "I appreciate the feedback. I understand. Thank you for putting it kindly! I will definitely pass this up to my manager to get another set of eyes on this. We certainly appreciate the contributions you have made and I hope you have enjoyed the times you have come out!"

Where I sand on this, as a former player this is almost too much to stomach.
I bleed black and gold, and CU football has come 1st in my life (sports wise) since 1988.
This year has been the hardest for me. In 33 years, I never missed watching/listening to a game. Even when I go up hunting 2x a year, I might run into town to watch or at least listen to it on the radio.
This year has been different. I watched all of the UNC game. A&M I was hunting and listened to it. After the 1st quarter of the Minn game I was done and spent the rest of the day shopping with the wife. I did not watch or listen another game until Oregon st. and followed that up with 3 quarters of the UCLA game.
This weekend I have been invited to a reunion for the Washington game. As I sit here on Tuesday, I dont know if I am going to go.
That makes me ****ing sick to my stomach to think that CU football has sunk so low, it is no longer a priority in my life, after 33 years.
CU football VS pheasant hunting. From this day forward (until CU gets their **** together) It will be hunting every weekend!

The wording of the response confirms that they have had plenty of responses that were shall we say much more vehement in tone and wording.

The managers in charge of ticket sales know that they will be ask to explain (as if there is a question) why sales aren't meeting goal and prior numbers.

Yours is the kind of response that they can present as an example while saying they have a certain number of other similar responses.

These take away any rationalizing they might want to do like blaming it on the economy or other outside factors.

Try tweeting RG the condensed version of this. Former athletes seem to be the only voices and people he recognizes with any level of significance. This is the kind of stuff they need thrown in their face, public style. They are failing everyone.

I checked out a few years ago. I see no signs things are on the mend (other than MBB) back then or now. Tucker was a brief respite. Im convinced there is an above the AD meddler(s) that are limiting us. Buh bye.

****ty short sighted management appears not limited to just the AD from what I hear and have seen.

When I was a doc student at Mizzou I bought Season tix. The first game I went to the whole donor section bailed at end of first quarter when the other team was ahead by two scores. When I was undergrad at CU I never remebered that happening. Maybe I was drunk. I don't live near Bolulder any longer so I watch on TV. This season I have watched a lot of movies during Buffs games.

There's been a couple days over the past month where I got up on Saturday and review the game schedule as I normally do to figure out what I plan on watching in the early, late afternoon and evening windows. Then I have to remind myself, oh what time is the CU game. Then we're either playing late at night (for me) or on the Pac12 network which most of the country doesn't get. I'll look for a stream and pull it up on my 10" tablet but most of my focus is on the 2 TV's I have going at that time. Sadly, apathy has very much set in for me when it comes to CU football.

I am not on twitter, however an email was sent. I will let you know if I get a response.
