Simas, Tau, Vaiomounga Ineligable

Sounds like Simas may have a chance from the article just posted from Buffzone. Hopefully he can get it straightened out and be on the field. If not, I hope he learns a lesson and hits the books hard.

Seriously, though. It isn't that freakin' hard. I didn't do **** in college and still managed grades way above passing. I know they have football that eats up their study time, but I worked 20-30 hours a week and still made it.

Some of these kids just aren't cut out for college, and they've relied on their athleticism to get them where they are. Unfortunately, it often happens that when you get into a school based on athletics, you're unable to handle the academic load.

My father-in-law is a professor at CU, and he had some very, very poor words about Michael Sipili.... kind of the same thing that Simas says in the article. Sipili was 'charming' and 'very nice' but failed the class. If you knew my father-in-law, you would know that this is borderline impossible.

Obviously this isn't limited to athletes, but it is a shame to see opportunities wasted.

Sounds like wishful thinking from a soon to be ineligible player, IMO. Have you ever known a college prof to change a grade? I haven't.

Especially when the student admits in public that he didn't do the work because he thought he could smile his way to a passing grade...

Your pretty much right on with your assessment. Back in Boulder in the late 70's I was almost a mirror image of that. "Cs" get degrees, not that I'm proud of my part time effort, but one has to apply themselves from time to time.

That is because you are an autistic sevant.

Seriously though, this **** isnt vacation, professors dont care if you smile well. You're education is being paid for, dont take it for granted and represent this university well. WTF.

The Post also confirmed the ineligibility of Simas, Tau, & Vaiomounga today. However, they also went on to say all three were staying enrolled to get their grades up so they could play in 2009.

I'm sure ready for fall camp to start. It's time for some good news. Its been way too quiet in the good news dept.
