2022 Transfer Portal

only good news is there are about 1,000 portal guys and at least 80% have a higher HS grade than most of our outgoing players sans Gonzo and Rice. You don’t need to tell me they won’t want to play for CU and KD sucks. I know I’m just stating the facts.
HS Grade is of NO
relevance with transfers. If guys have shown something at the college level, including working hard to get better (and stronger) etc means much more. We have no way of knowing this, but before you accept a transfer, this gets vetted.

even if RG wanted to get rid of KD, I don't think he can because he gave him a ****ing idiotic contract that wouldn't allow him to fire him for several years. We're at least 1 year out from RG maybe being able to scrounge up the cash to get KD to go away
He does not want to get rid of KD. RG likes KD because he is loyal. It is irrelevant if KD is up to par for the job.

Some people just like to freak out or enjoy drama. It is not ideal. But there is also an opportunity for the Buffs. I am certainly not freaking out. KD got to be agressive with the transfer portal. We currently have about 21 players signed. Need to sign about 32 players. The numbers will work itself out. Opportunity for young players like Kerry, Dixson, Page, Venn, Mills, Wiggins. A Smith and etc to play early. Fix the OL and DL. Also got to be more competitive with NIL and get the NCAA to make reforms. Can't be a farm team or CU might just have to drop football.

Just stop. You are literally a one man wrecking crew, killing the last of my passion for this board.

We can always hope KD is Jack in this situation. He's definitely not the captain. Not qualified.
Karl Dorrell is most certainly Rose in this movie.

Rose survives the biggest boat in the world sinking, and then having to swim in the coldest water known to man kind.

She somehow ends up with one of the most expensive diamonds in the world after all of this that could have set her and her family up for generations. Says **** it, and 84 years later throws the diamond into the ocean, to never be seen again. If that's not Karl Dorrell, I don't know what is.

5* QB from northwestern just hit the portal.... we already blew our wad ofcourse
What is the “wad” in this cliche’?

This usually refers to spending all your money. What money have we spent? What money did we have to spend?

If it’s not a good time to be pessimistic , then when? What more will it take? The two most explosive players on offense are gone, as are the two best members of the secondary, and CU loses their best linebacker and best pass rusher to graduation.

I literally (!) have no idea how CU is going to stop any passing attack next year, nor do I know how they plan to run the ball, either. Fontenot can’t carry the rock 30 times a game.

I am often one of the most optimistic fans in this forum, and even I have hit the wall with all of this; now I'm slowly sliding down that wall like a lumpy brown goo in an over-dramatic fade to black.

I have used the phrase "cascade failure" to describe what's going on for a specific reason: it is the point when a structure fails after which there are no remaining supporting or opposing forces capable of preventing the collapse from growing in scope and increasing in intensity. Once we started losing our best players, we did not have the money (apparently) or reputation to prevent a run-away collapse of the program. I truly do not see where this stops or (even worse) why it would stop.

For instance, how do we (as BB2 suggested) "fix the OL and DL" when we are hemorrhaging our best players? Why would good lineman want to come to a program that can't keep its own players motivated or inspired about the future of the program? Again, why will this stop? What's the mechanism that is capable of setting some form of support to build off of?

Agreed. Any of KDs guys leave? Don’t think so. 2022 will be rough but could be good after that (if KD makes it all come together).

Coaching staff is far better today than the last 3 years and yet the exodus is nuts. I think JBrou will regret this choice! Starting tailback on a P5 team with a Run First OC, and you leave. Maybe his low opinion of the OL is what made up his mind. I think he will have to move to a lesser program to get the carries he wants.

I absolutely agree with the statement that the coaching staff has improved, markedly. That may be a "support structure" capable of slowing some of this down. Thank you for the life-line on that point.

We were 129th in offense last year. There is ONE lesser program than us. I like his odds to move upward.

It is not part of the plan but the destination is all that matters. Players graduate. You replace them.
Step 1: Decrease the talent
Step 2: ?????
Step 3: Win championships

I'm a little slow, so maybe you can explain 'Step 2' to me. You seem to understand and support what's going on. I'd really appreciate it if you could fill me in, because I'm at a loss here. I'm definitely not seeing or comprehending what you are. TIA
