Coaches Poll is out.

Re: Coaches Pole is out.

I can't see no poles; page not found, can you re-post

Re: Coaches Pole is out.

God, I don't want to see any coaches pole... I don't swing that way

How the hell is Michigan ranked 24th.

Another BS poll

You think they should be ranked higher?

They did go 9-4 last year, won a bowl game against Florida. Plus they have a better coach this year.

I would say they are ranked about right. I would probably favor Michigan against some of the teams currently ranked ahead of them.

Does Michigan have a QB yet?

Michigan lost a lot, and don't forget, neither of their returning qbs fit the spread option well at all, they have a true freshman who does but I'm sure he is very raw and not ready to face crappy Big 10 competition. Michigan doesn't have the type of players to right away be ranked and stay ranked, this time next year with players that fit that scheme this rank would be justified but not until then.

I think with a new coach, revamping the offensive scheme and losing the defacto starting QB would put them initially out of the the top 25.

They'll have to rely on the "D" which is pretty much intact but they'll wear out fairly quickly with a new offense being developed. If they go 6-6 this year I'd be surprised.

No Duke vote. For the first time since he left the school, Steve Spurrier left Duke off his ballot for the preseason coaches poll.

Spurrier always had given his former school a token vote to show his appreciation, despite the Blue Devils’ struggles. But Spurrier said Grant Teaff, the head of the American Football Coaches Association, personally requested that Spurrier stop, after USA Today complained.

“He just said ‘I’d appreciate if you didn’t vote for Duke, and keep the integrity of the poll alive,’” Spurrier said. “Somebody else asked me that; they’d always thought it was a nice gesture. But Grant asked me not to do it, so I complied with his wishes.”

The integrity of the poll? Didn´t some coaches more or less admit that they let their assistants or equipment managers fill out the thing?

shaun king didn't fit the "spread" but still tore it up for dick rod at tulane. prior to going to tulane, he was at a d2 school in wv and his qb's threw for 4,000+ every year. i think mallett was a complete idiot in transferring. dick rod made brandon streeter look like a decent qb at clemson!

That's BS. Spurrier gave them one vote in a pre-season poll. What the hell difference does it make and how, exactly, does it impact the "integrity" of the poll?

c'mon Grant, show some spine. I don't blame Spurrier for acquiescing to Teaff's wishes, but a pre-season poll has no integrity in the first place. Why not vote for Baylor, or Vanderbilt? What does it hurt? I could see it if Spurrier kept giving Duke a vote after the season started, but a pre-season poll? It's a FREAKING PRE-SEASON POLL !!!!

If anything, poppycock voting in the pre-season poll would increase the integrity of the polls. Since the pre-season poll holds way too much weight in how subsequent polls look, regardless of on the field performance, if the first one is ****ed up really bad it will force people to do more in their voting than simply look to see who lost this week and move them down the requisite 5 spots and move everyone else up one spot if they won. The pre-season poll gives a HUGE advantage to the top ranked teams. They can lose a game (or two!) early in the season but still make it into the BCS games because they will only drop a few spots and then they will be right back by the end. A similar 10-1 team that started the season in the 20s will never be able to pass them because the stupid poll is a joke.

I bet Steve Spurrier voted for CU this time.

Also if I were a coach I would vote my team number 1 every week.
