2022 NCAA Tournament Thread

If Gonzaga goes up against an SEC team and gets SEC-style refereeing, this is what happens.
Yep, mentioned this awhile back. Length, Gonzaga has. Girth, not as much. Some of their guards are put together, their bigs are pretty skinny, outside of one. If it's a more physical type game, not their deal for the most part. I wouldn't call their bigs soft, just not their game, they are very skilled at the same time.

This TTU/Duke game is great. If TTU and UH hold on, this will be an amazing day of bouncing teams I hate. Then just need Providence to win tomorrow and baby we’ve got a stew going.

A great night of hoops seeing Gonzaga and Arizona go down plus Duke wins. Now hoping UNC and KU lose tomorrow

Houston is better than Arizona. Great D and the best offensive reboundingteam in the tourney.
Best offensive rebounding team in the country I believe. Everything went wrong for AZ tonight.
The disparity in coaching experience also had something to do with it IMO.

TCU should have probably sent Arizona packing, and probably would have had Eric Curry not had his head up his ass for the last few minutes of that game on Sunday night. Not real surprised by Houston bouncing them, but still **** ARIZONA.

One more take on this tournament-isn't it curious that the bracket seems to be opening up for Coach K in his final NCAA tournament?

It would be too “One shining moment” for K to leave with another net, but it wouldn’t shock me.

They're going to beat Arkansas. Duke's the better team and.........they're (this shouldn't shock any of you) going to get a favorable whistle. Go ahead and hammer that one tomorrow.

One thing that shouldn't be a surprise is that in a year when no teams felt truly elite we've seen three #1 seeds eliminated before the Elite 8. (And we're all hoping that becomes four tomorrow.)

2006 I think was the only other year I can think of where a number 1 hasn't made the Final Four right?

Well, Ark ended UF and LSU coaches this year. Here’s to hoping they can do one more!!

Houston was the most under-seeded team in the Dance. #2 in KenPom. #3 in NET. How is that a 5-seed?
Mentioned to you, I think, that they could be a very dangerous team. I just wondered if they had enough shooting is what I asked I believe? Anyway, whenever I've seen them play, I've been pretty impressed.

Seems to me that the door is opening to send Mike Krzyzewski out as a winner. Great coach......but I have never liked the Blue Devils.

Interesting take.
With 5 minutes left in 2nd half one team was in the double bonus while the other team had 3 fouls.

It makes perfect sense. Arkansas was playing physical ball, even though they were getting fouls called on them, they weren't getting an excessive number of fouls called. Gonzaga was playing super soft, so it also makes perfect sense that they weren't getting any fouls called on them.

It wasn't a criticism of the referees, just an observation that a WCC team was pushed around and taken out of their game by a n SEC team playing a typical SEC style.

Few plays a beautiful brand of basketball and coaches it flawlessly. I'm wondering today, considering what also happened to his disciple Tommy Lloyd's Arizona team, if that style is too finesse and doesn't do enough to protect the defensive glass. It's all fun and games until you run into a team that will punch you in the mouth, has great strength & speed, and never lets up.

Kountz and Fletcher are the only two guys I felt Tad didn't get the most out of.

Say what you will about competition level, and it's valid, but Kountz is nightly 20 point scorer, and Fletcher was a regular triple double threat, conference player of the year at Toledo.
To be fair, Kountz was sh!t at CU and it stems from where he played in high school. There's a reason why East rolls every year until they play a half way decent, disciplined, well coached team in playoffs and flame out hard. I think Kountz finally learned to be a basketball player under Tad, grew inpatient, and then put that learning/maturity to good use this season.
