SI preseason rankings

I can't remember if someone posted this already but I found it pretty interesting. Of note (at least to me) are five big 12 teams in the top 20 and that SI, unlike most everyone else (or so it seems) have us ranked higher than the fuskers. I never place much stock in these but I just figured I'd throw it out there.

I think there's going to be as much shakeup in this year's BCS as there was in last year's.

USC should have the toughest schedule in the land with an all-BCS school slate, but Georgia follows closely with @ASU, @LSU, Largest indoor cocktail party and @Auburn. The only potential undefeated team I see going to the mNC might be OSU.

There should be a lot of controversy this year! The best regular season in any sport is about to begin soon! Can't wait!

You mean the world's largest OUTDOOR cocktail party? :wink2:

Yea, if OSU can get by USC then the rest of their schedule sets up pretty well.

SI's ratings appear to be more resonable straight across the board. I believe the Buffs are picked at that rating for many reasons, but also because they do have one of the toughest schedules in the country and many don't think they can come out much better than 500. However, I'm far more optimistic than any of them are.

OOOpps, yeah.

OSU could be threatened by @Wiscy and even though they are playing at Illinois I think the Buckeyes will want revenge after last year's upset.

Wisconsin plays at Fresno St (upset alert?), but their schedule sets up nicely in the Big 10 with Penn St, OSU and their rival Minnesota at home. Their only big away game is at Michigan. I could see them sharing the Big 10 title with OSU, if they finally live up to their promise. They then would win the tie breaker to win the Big 10. Whether or not that would catapult them over OSU in the BCS poll, though, is another story given that this would only a mid-season loss and not a late season loss and the media/coaches have a hard on for OSU.

The world's second largest outdoor cocktail party, after this year's UT Sackygate... :drink2::drink:

I thought the reference to OSU above must have been the Cowboys or the Beavs, because there is no way the Luckeyes get out of that USC game without a loss...

i think whoever wins the OSU/USC game could go undefeated and i think USC will win handily

It's at the Coliseum. It'll be interesting to see how they integrate Pyror into the OSU offense. It's also the first true test of the Buckeyes since their opponents before USC are vastly inferior. USC opens at Virginia so they'll be ready to open at home against OSU.

I think it really boils down to how well Sanchez can work with his receivers. The USC backfield is absolutely loaded and OSU has, perhaps, the best RB (my vote would go for Moreno though) in the nation with Wells.

It's a tossup, with USC having a slight advantage I'd say. However, if USC does beat OSU and goes on to lose a game they shouldn't--they had a lot of injuries last year that pushed them out of mNC contention--then I wonder if we'll see a USC/OSU Rosebowl. Meh. Another interesting take is that if both teams end up with 1 loss, or even 2, the winner could still creep into the mNC game. Look at last year with VTech and LSU in the remaining weeks. That game was definitely a factor into LSU getting the nod over VTech to go to the BCS mNC game.
