Really feels like this is headed towards a system of 24-30 schools who have no qualms about doing whatever it takes to win, while everybody else kind of reverts to a more traditional system. I’m actually ok with that and hope we get there sooner rather than later.

College football (or at least a segment of it) is going to change from "football played by college students" to "professional football teams sponsored by colleges".
Without being too jaded, this is what college football has been for the last 20-30 years. At least now we’re being honest about it.

We will still need an increased commitment to winning to be competitive in that new, diminished football world.

If you're USC, no need to recruit high school kids any longer unless they are absolutely can't miss 5-star types. Much safer and easier to just poach the best of the best kids that won't be playing for a national championship at their school.

Poach = pay more as well as greater exposure and NFL path.
Hard to argue with this. This “system” is totally borked.

Yep. I'd be surprised if you see a class any higher than 12-15 going forward at USC.

Whatever the day was that boosters started paying players was the day.
We've been climbing this stair case for a lot longer than what happened on the last landing. My point being that money began to become THE only factor several flights back.

I need to amend my prediction for CU,up a W, to 1-11 now.
Yeah, especially since EVERY TEAM on the Buffs schedule improved a 100% during their spring practices, lost no one to the Portal, everyone on their rosters gained 25 pounds of muscle and dropped two tenths of a second in their 40 times and had complete recovery of every injured player, including 4 *s, on their rosters!

Ryan Reynolds Wtf GIF

You would have to agree if you took an honest look at the teams on the 2022 CU schedule, the majority either A) were already significantly better than us -or- B) upgraded their talent/skills/coaching more than us during the offseaon -or- C) a combination of both A & B.
