As it stands now,we look to have 4 guys who will see the bulk of the playing time, Smith, Williams, Mcknight and celestine. Losing simas hurts as most have noted he's been one of the best ones in practice. Espinosa will be back but some say he hasn't showed what he did in the spring.

Looks like blackmon is going to RS and the only other wr I see playing is crawford. Is there anyone else who can help out? I know there was a walk-on #89 who impressed a couple of people.

Looks like depth needs to be built here also.

Losing Simas hurt. 5 wr is kind of scary. There was some talk a while back about putting Chapelle Brown at WR but I don't see it now. At least Geer is back.

89 did NOT look impressive in scrimmage. dropped a sure touchdown from ballenger.

While 4/5 WRs seems like scary depth, keep in mind that you still have guys like Stewart, Lockridge, Scott and Geer that will be seeing plenty of passes as well. From what I understand, it sounds like Speedy is going to be used all over the field and it would not surprise me to see him line up in the slot, or to go out wide from the back field. Same goes for Scott and Lockridge (although Lockridge is not healthy right now and it appears that he's not given the sports hernia enough time to heal, so I'm not expecting much from him the first game or so)

i know it was discussed at length in the past...but i forgot. can somebody refresh my memory on what happened to simas? thank you.

My thoughts are thank god we have a nice WR recruit in the pipe and can we get 2 more to go with him.

:yeahthat:

Is #89 Melton? I am dissapointed he hasn't stepped-up. Thought he might be a steal, but I guess every walk-on can't be a Scotty McNugget or Jeff Smart. :sad1:

Agreed. Losing Simas was not good, but at least Geer is back. I expect the coaches to get a lot of different guys involved in the passing game. We need the top four WRs to stay healthy though.

Yep. At least three WRs in this cycle are needed.

i'm kinda optimistic about this group. i don't know why. i'd like to see P. Williams have a solid SR. year. and J-fly can be a weapon (with some dropsie issues at time), and i like McKnight. with Geer back, being able to create 3rd and 3 with the running game, i think this can be a decent group.

Is Greer back for the first and second games?

Anyone hear if Celestine is officially eligible? I remember reading that he was going to be close, too.

I also have some optimism for this group. McKnight proved last year he was solid, and like you said J-fly has potential. The key is Williams, he has underachieved A LOT in the last 3 years and I think this is his year to breakout. I've been convinced for awhile that he is really good but never emerged. Cody is really good about spreading the ball around to anyone who is open, but it would be nice to see Williams become the go-to guy in big situations.

Thought this was an interesting blurb from this article...

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/aug/13/cu-report-early-work-pays/

"Instead, Kiesau is identifying his three "most well-rounded" receivers, who should excel in both the passing and running game, and three strong backups.

The first three will likely will be Patrick Williams, Josh Smith and Scotty McKnight. Kiesau said Cody Crawford and Steve Melton have shown well in camp, which, in all likelihood, will allow freshman Chance Blackmon to redshirt"

Something must be up for him not to be mentioned...

On a side note, does anyone know how you paste a "title" over a link?

When you do the link, you will see where it has the link twice in the info it puts in your post, with one of them being highlighted. Just type what you want the link to say in the highlighted space, and leave the rest alone.

Maybe we could get Jarboe.

just kidding.

Jarboe transferred to Troy U. where he will major in Video Communication.

I believe are WR's should be much improved over last year even though there is no Crabtree type talent among them they are no slouche's either.
