Sporting News came out with their Big XII preview in the last couple days. They made one SERIOUS mistake that completely destroys any credibility they might have had, IMO.

They have Mizzou winning the North and OU taking the South, and the CCG. CU third in the North, behind Mizzou and KU. I think they overrate KU, but I can live with this.

They have CU #1 in their "will be better than you think" listing. NU is #2, which is of course ludicrous, but I can also live with this.

They have predictions, one of which is "Colorado Freshman Darrell Scott will live up to the hype". The only prediction ahead of it is "Missouri won't win its first big xii title". So perfect marks here. :thumbsup:

Their all-conference team has only one Buff - The Rabid Goldfish, of course. I'd like more, but I can live with this...

So where did they blow their credibility, you ask?

They rank the top ranters in the Big XII...

2. Mark Mangina, KU wtf: :wow

No Dan Hawkins in a ranking, ANY ranking, of the best ranters?? Inconceivable. Ridiculous. Idotic. TSN clearly has no clue... :lol: :lol:

Maybe they caught him coming out of a bakery that had sold out of its last donut just before he got in there? Or perhaps they are mistaking "ranting" for "god awful fat ass SMELLYNESS".

My theory is that they are scared that he will eat them if they don't throw him a bone. Preferably with some meat still on it :smile2:

You don't remember a few years back when KU had Texas beat, only to have some VERY questionable calls get Texas the win at the end? (I think it was the year Texas won the BCS)

When they interviewed Mangino after the game he made some comments about how the Big 12 refs had given Texas the win, and said something about "You know why Texas won. . . . that's right, BCS"

My problem with the Gundy rant is that he had to take it out on a GIRL sports writer. I mean seriously. I bet if it were a dude the whole situation would not have gone down like it did. lol I hope he feels big and tough inside now... douche.

I disagree. Who bitches about a retarded sports article at a press conference? And not just bitch about it but bring the article to the press conference as a prop? I'm not saying that she was right by any means, but I just think he went in the complete wrong direction on the matter. Instead of teaching his player to be an adult and learn to take criticism, he instead went out of his way to intimidate someone who gave the criticism.

You are right that the chick was probably a douche but I just think that if the article was written by a 60 year old sports writer he wouldn't have acted the same way. And articles are written all the time like that. You gotta take the article for what it is worth, just an article written in a college newspaper. Nothing more.

it was 2005 and Texas and the mighty Vince Young were beat, KU was driving to score to go up bu 10 points, made a pretty 3rd down pass completion for a 1st down, play was over, players going back to the huddles, ref signals 1st down, mack brown was screaming at the ref and "pop" out comes the flag for offensive pass interference from across the field and about 30-35 yards away from the play.....

Texas held on 3rd down the 2nd time, and the rest is history so to speak...

I never knew much about Mangino until his rant, and I've liked him ever since. He's a good coach, and he tells it like it is. What more could you ask? As for Gundy, I never read the article, but it sounds like she deep-ended on this kid for dropping a pass. I agree with Gundy, but he went a little nuts - who is the child here, indeed? The Kinneson comparison was right on - I'm just mad it didn't occur to me before!

This was a special circumstance with a kid who was struggling. He backed his player and probably cemented his team. I'm not willing or able to read his mind on whether he would do the same with another/male fish hack. Not knowing him, I'm willing to bet he would.
