Is anybody worried about csu?

It seems there is a lot of confidence in Buff nation going into the csu game, myself included. I mean the rammies have a new QB, a new unproven coach, an unproven staff, and the rams are coming off some bad times when they fired their best coach ever.
Even if Ram fans and players say all is well in Fort Collins, you would have to think it will take time for the players to gain trust in Fairchilds system. I would imagine a lot of those players were very bitter when Lubbick was fired and they are not all totally "in" the new scheme. Just like a lot of the buffs weren't in it when Hawkins first got here.

CU meanwhile is coming off a much improved season by going bowling and beating CSU, Oklahoma and Nebraska. CU has had two good recruiting classes and the talent gap is starting to get a lot wider between the buffs and rams. CU returns a lot of experience on offense this year while adding more talent.

CU is also favored by 12 points in this game. The last 5 years the lines have been: 2,4,7, 2, 2. So Vegas likes the buffs chances a lot better than the past few years.

However, does all this confidence worry any of you? Anybody nervous of csu? After all they will be ready. I have no doubt that if the buffs are ready, csu doesn't match up well against us. If we struggle in this game, I think we're in for a long year and will probably start to wonder about Hawkins as the coach he is touted to be. Thoughts?

I also think if we pressure the **** out of Farris, we will make life miserable for him that evening. Question is will we? I know it has looked like we are focusing on that more in practice.

I agree that we should win going away. I've looked at the CSU game as a barometer game for the last decade or so. If we win big it will be a good year, a close win equates to a .500 season, and if we lose it'll be a tough year.

I worry about the CSU game for the following reasons:

1) Mistakes: Last season was riddled with them; interceptions, BAD SNAPS (I hate those and there were a ton of them last year), etc. If we make a lot of mistakes it'll be close (see above for what the equates to in my mind).

2) Coaching: We gave a couple games away last year with poor calls at key times or just plain got out-coached (see Iowa State and K-State). We win this game big if our coaches are making the proper calls and adjustments.

The CSU game should give us a "snapshot" of the upcoming season, so here's to the Buffs crushing the mountain goats! :slayer:

We've been better than them in all of the last 4 years but they always manage to keep the game close. This year seems different though, it would take a major letdown for us to lose.

I'm worried that a few CSewe players are going to get knocked around. It's always a shame to see some young kid get hurt. But I find a small sense of relief knowing that Invesco is in close proximity to a large number of excellent Denver hospital facilities.

I'm not worried right now. I'll get that knot in my stomach a day or two before the game, though. But at this point, all logic says that CU will absolutely destroy the goats.

definately more confident than i have been in over 5 years....i'm more nervous they keep it close and we get dogged by everyone for not blowing them out...but for the first time i'm not nervous they're gonna throw another 400 yds passing on us, since Farris is pure crap and his O-line is almost crappier

Do they sound that stupid cannon at the start of each qtr? If so, thats the only time I want to hear that stupid boom. Lets shut this ****ing fake team that belongs in D1AA out. They have NO business being with us and we need to crush CSU's fans confidence that they belong on the same field as CU.

GO BUFFS!!!

Haha, you mean they belong in the FCS. The problem with csu fans is no matter how many times we beat them or how many games they lose in that pathetic excuse for a conference they play in, they still won't shut the hell up.

They'd be no match for App State. :smile2:

I'm with valdez on this one. I will be nervous because I am always nervous before Buff games.

That said, however, this is the first year where I will be very disappointed if the game is even close. This is not a win-is-a-win situation. The Buffs need to come out and simply smack the rams into the turf. As psycho would say, "no excuses". This team has enough of the pieces in place who have been in the program for two years now. There still may be question marks but they should be able to play to their strengths and impose their will in this game and the next.

Talent - clearly for the Buffs.
Intangibles - CSU playing for a new coach. It would be easy to bring up the debacle which was the Montana State game, but most teams come out with great emotion for a new staff, and this will be against a rival at a neutral site.

There's a reason that every game since 2001 has been decided by seven points or less - pure emotion on the part of the Rams.

If the Buffs can keep the momentum from going the Rams way in the first quarter, the Buffs will pull away in the second half.

GO BUFFS!

maybe tight end

Their best offensive weapon, TE Sperry, is not eligible to play against us this year. He has already played the buffs 4 times and then blew his knee out and got a medical redshirt last year after our game. By NCAA rule he cannot play us a 5th time.
