I think I know how this vote's gonna go.

My opinion is that after seeing Lewis start 13 straight games I've seen enough to know he's not the guy to lead this team and may never be.

Shrout seemed to energize the team. I don't know if he'll be good, but I think we'd at least see an offense that plays with some fire and attacks if he's under center.

I'm 100% in the Shrout camp.

I have seen enough of Lewis to see he doesn't have "it".
Would go with Shrout and actually work in the the next #2. If Lewis has not put it together in his amount of snaps, then it's not happening.

13 games, on campus for several years
6 or 7 TDs total
50% of the games didn’t break 100 yards

I don’t think shrout is the best QB ever, but this shouldn’t even be a decision Karl is still working on. Really bad quarterbacks will still be breaking 200 and maybe 2x the TDs. This is a case of a guy who isn’t a QB at all playing the position

Not to mention just the pragmatic political angle of playing shrout to stop the narrative you’re throwing the season

I voted for Shrout, but do wonder if McCown is as good as we have been hearing why not play him? We aren't risking losing games (that will happen no matter what) and sitting him just makes it more likely he will transfer. I know he's small so I guess you have the injury risk, but small quarterbacks have played before. I don't see the point of redshirting guys to make sure you have them as a 5th year senior with the transfer portal the way it is. Unless you have a strong team you have to play young guys early.

Considering the other things we have heard from the team, what gives you confidence that the McCown noise is legit?

Nothing, but might as well find out. We know Lewis is not the answer, Shrout seems better, but I don't think he's the long term answer either. As a fan it gives me a reason to watch the games at least.

Well, went with Shrout here. Lewis is seeing too many damn ghosts, no confidence in other words. The old football saying, you have 2 quarterbacks, you don't have one. You're never gonna ****ing know unless you settle on one of them. Bopping both of them in and out of the huddle is not gonna work.

Shrout has to play this game, however, if he does turn things over, it could be a very long day, but oh well.

McCown by all accounts, even Barnett, PAC12 Network folks, and others say he is super accurate, very good at reading defense, and likely the QB of the future, but he is a late developer and is not big or strong enough for his frame. I would like to see him play.

Shrout should run the first team offense this week in the game. What will likely happen is that Lewis probably starts and they platoon.

Absolutely do not ruin another QB by putting McCown into this disaster.

Playing QBs before they are ready in situations guaranteed to fail is a great way to keep yourself looking for the next QB to save your program (or much more likely to ruin as well.)

As to the question of Lewis/Shrout, doesn't matter. We are going to suck either way. Might be more fun to see Shrout throw the ball all over the field and hope that more of them end up as TDs or big gains than end up as INTs but we are going to lose either way.

I want to see JT and depending on how he plays, then McCown.
I wouldn’t waste a red shirt on McCown. But I’m not sure how the dynamics of today’s college football impacts these decisions. I mean, would he be more or less apt to transfer if we did or didn’t burn his RS?

Neither QB is good but it’s gotta be Shrout. The only way the Lewis, plodding no turnover offense works is with a top defense, which the Buffs do not have. Better to take your chances in a shootout than lose in a blowout.

I assume kids want to play. We had how many starters even transfer? Play him (if JT struggles) and show him he is the future.

What did you see to make you think that Shrout isn’t good?

I was very impressed with the way he played

One one hand: We have seen the Lewis book of work. It ain’t any good.
On the other hand: How much of what we have seen is due to completely incompetent coordination and QB coaching?
Back to the first hand: same head coach, same basic offense, little chance that his skill set would be utilized effectively.

has to be Shrout, therefore we will definitely get Lewis.
