And finally, Plati also addressed speculation from Internet sites about the possibility of CU playing a game this year in throwback blue and gold uniforms used in the Chuck Fairbanks era. Plati said there is no such plan at this time, but there has been talk in the past of finding a way to honor those teams.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Why not have throwback port-a-potties on the south end of zone C. We could call it the Fairbanks flusher. Paint them powder blue and viola, Fairbanks is remembered....

Why don't we just dump a bunch of margaritas over a pile of ginormous melons and honor FChairbanks instead??

If we honor a guy who lost to Drake...DRAKE....TWICE...AT HOME, I'm gonna hurl.

You still have to honor the teams, the guys that busted their asses to represent our school and the state of Colorado. They were, and are forever Buffs.

But there must a better way to do it, however, than powder blue uniforms which only look good on the Bolts.

I'm all for honoring those guys, but not with the baby blues. That be like the Broncos using the old brown and mustard uni's. No need to bring back terrible memories and revive awful uni's.

i can get on board with honoring the teams...but no baby blues and send Chuck a nice letter but don't put the guy at midfield at halftime. it's sad enough that the color scheme is still evidenced on campus at a couple spots in the rec center (the pool and one of the hoops courts).

heck, let's honor Mallory's teams first. he had some solid teams. he won 9 games in 75 and shared a conference crown and took CU to the Orange Bowl in 76. was 35-21-1 at CU. the Big 8 was tough in the mid 70's. OU and Nebraska were giants and Missouri and OSU were legit bowl teams most years and that meant something back then.

To honor Chucky properly for his CU "contribution", you'd need to do the following...

  • Get suspended by your boss because you signed a new contract with a new job and were caught recruiting for your new gig.

  • Run a huge unchecked spending spree on everything you think your new college program needs, even if it doesnt need it.

  • Run a 7-26 powder blue record at your new program, and then resign before getting ****-canned.

  • Run a second rate NFL knockoff team as coach, create recruiting violations for college players, and then run a gloriously ****ty 6-12 record

  • Get praised by Bill Bellicheat right during the height of his spygate scandal where he calls you quote "An innovator"

  • Run a used car emporium

Call me old fashioned but I don't feel the need to "honor" our time in the cellar. It's best we just bury them and move on.

The best way to honor those teams would be to drag Fairbanks' ass back to Boulder and have him put in shackles on Pearl St for us to throw stuff at him.

I'll never, EVER forgive that man.

It is commendable the kids took the field every weekend and made their attempt to represent the Buffs well. But they were like salmon trying to swim upstream against the overwhelming idiocy of Fairbanks. I'm glad to see I'm by no means the only one who remembers the dark days of Fairbanks. No way you honor that!

Put him at mid field during the EWU game and the University better damn well supply the marshmallows. Great way to pay tribute to what he did to us and get more students to the game they were least likely to attend.

Bring the players from those teams to mid field for a game if you must, but DO NOT have that idiot coach anywhere near Boulder. Drake, people! My God, how did that happen twice?

oh the marshmallows....how i miss thee :smile2:

there were some good players on those teams... not a lot, but some...

and, they were all Buffs. it wasn't their fault that chucky sucked a dead dog's ass as a coach.

honor the players. remember that they bled for the Buffs.

i like sacky's idea about putting chucky in shackles. that would be a perfect way to honor the era.

i attended lots of fairbanks era games-- those players were working hard.

How about the 1968 helmets or the 1956 orange bowl. these are way better.
