Off-season is officially over!

Wouldn´t surprise me if Spurrier told his QB that this IS DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL!

He has 11 completions ... but 3 of them to NCSU D-Backs ....

I can't believe Spurrier hasn't changed QB's yet after 3 first-half picks by Beecher. :wow:

College football is back!!!!!!!!!! :slayer:

I became bored by the NCST/oUSC game, and switched to the Stanford/Beavers game. The Beavers let that one get away, making critical mistakes in the 4th quarter. A safety and an interception at the goal line sunk their ship. Plus, they were allowing Stanford to convert 3rd and long with draw plays. :bang: You guys know what I think about 3rd down conversion rates.

For some reason I get this strange feeling that Stanford is going to be a beast in about 2-3 years. I think it has to do with Harbaugh's emotion and his ability to connect with kids.

meh - coaches who do well at Stanford always go somewhere else. Harbaugh could end up being Carrol's replacement at USC after he's fired for the slew of NCAA infractions that are coming his way.

when did the an NCAA investigation committee set foot on the USC campus to investigate petey and his program????

do you believe in santa claus also?

I dunno. But I do know this - that if half of the stuff that's coming out about Reggie Bush is accurate, that program will be put on probation.

ok statue of limitations is 5 years for an investigation by the NCAA, Reggie Bush has been gone 3 years now..... if they aren't on campus right now doing their investigation, you can kiss this pipe dream good-bye.....

They will use the 365 rule. Once they open an investigation the NCAA has 365 days to conclude it. They will let it slip past the 365 days, and will not hand out punishment. Its what they do with the big programs (see OSU...Clarett). It what they would have done with OU, had it not been so open in the media.

No, they won't. Just like nothing happened to OSU with Mo Clarett and nothing happened to OU with Peterson and Bomar, nothing will happen to USC. That's not how King Brand rolls.

He lets the big programs off with a slap on the wrist (if even that) and punishes the smaller programs harshly. CU got hit harder for the training table deal than USC will for Bush and Mayo. Just watch.

:yeahthat:

If this had been anyone other than U$C, O$U, Texa$, any promenant $EC school, Notre Dame and possibly OU or Meatchicken, this already would have been investigated with punishment meted out. The NCAA is a business with slave labor, and Emperor Brand understands the importance of (pun painfully intended) core branding; it unfortunately completely make sense to operate in this fashion because it gives the illusion to the public that the NCAA is controlling the operation in order to create an equal playing field without harming your core (football factory) brands. The NCAA makes the most money when the aforementioned schools do well with rotating "challengers."

That said, I agree with the initial point. I've always wondered why Stanford didn't have a spectacular D1 Football program despite their high admission standards. The campus is gorgeous (wasn't it designed by the same person who designed CU's campus?), the educational facilities are terrific (although I can't speak to the athletic facilities) and the location is nice as well. I think that if they'd ever get a "Stanford guy" that was any good to coach there they could be almost as good as USC, certainly as good as UCLA. Fortunately for the Cardinal, I think that UM's got their guy for the forseeable future in Rich Rod and Harbaughs on the outs with them anyways because of the comments he made last year, so he might stick around for a while and they might build a nice little program. We'll see.

How's that for speculation based entirely on a couple games (USC last year, OSU this year)?

I fully admit that USC going on probation is a pipe dream. But it's my pipe dream and I cherish it.

Jeez, is that the best pipe dream you can muster up? I say the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their pipe dreams.

Where are the hot babes in this pipe dream, or the 15 minutes of fame? Or at least hitting the jackpot from a scratch off lottery ticket, scoring an easy $250, and then hosting a tailgate party with a keg of Coors Light with fellow Allbuffs fans and getting so hammered that you puke before the opening kickoff?

Grow some real goals dammit!
