If McMurphy is putting it out there, that means there are some legit sources that are straight up lying to him in an attempt to continue making the Pac 12 look foolish (more than they already appear to be). OR, the Pac 12 saw the embarrassing reaction to McMurphy's tweet and someone reached out to Mandel for damage control.

Either way, this ****ing clown show can't come to a resolution soon enough.

I mean this is the entire conundrum of this mess right? McMurphy is a B12 dude, writes about them, reports on them, openly talks about how awesome they are. Conversely, Mandel is generally a P12 dude for similar reasons. And then we have competing sources or whatever, so we remain stuck in a loop until something real actually happens

That's the exit fee, but they'd still lose their media rights for the remainder of the contract, is my understanding. So hundreds of millions more.

Sounds like it yea. The hypothetical part is FSU getting out of the GOR. Here's the following paragraph for full context:

The answer hinges on the grant of rights. ACC schools granted their TV rights for home games to the conference, which then distribute the revenue back to the teams. That deal expires in 2036. If FSU could not escape it, then leaving the conference seems financially impossible. Unless there’s an escape clause in the contract or a way for the Seminoles to negotiate another option.

I don't see how that would happen. To get material damages from the other party who breaks your agreement, you're not going to get a value based on losing an asset while also keeping all rights to that asset. No way the ACC would get to double dip like that.

Well here are two of us :)

This from November. Still seems to be rather important.

Rather, the biggest question for the Pac-12 remains: Who will see its games? For the first time, a Power Five conference would be showing significant content on a stand-alone streaming service without a TV affiliation. It's possible that caused strong push back from inside his conference when Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren kept advocating for adding California, Oregon, Stanford and Washington in expansion.

Not only are those schools not worth the $75 million per year Big Ten schools got in their new media rights deal, the likes of Purdue, Minnesota and Indiana pushed back against further expansion. They didn't want some of their games relegated to a still-emerging streaming platform. (The Big Ten negotiated with Amazon while weighing its options, but a sizable bid was turned down, according to SportsBusiness Journal.)

ITB yet again makes a great point, the P12 should just swallow their pride and take the exact deal the B1G has
Go screw yourself.
Did I ever say this ?

I'll beat this dead horse for as long as I have to. Eyeballs on the PAC 12 product for the next 4-5 years is paramount or at least it is for CU.
The opportunity CU has with Coach Prime is a once in a lifetime chance. Visibility is more important than ever before. Unfortunately they won't get
what the SEC and BIG10 have. Is it a coincidence that these conferences haven't signed up for any streaming services ?

ION Network is horrific and I hope that was false info.
I'd be fine with someone like USA Network or TBS but doesn't seem like they are interested.

I don’t think anybody would disagree that we desire more eyeballs. The problem is how to accomplish that. The B12 doesn’t provide it. The B1G and SEC are non starters. The mainline networks are full. We are the odd man out at the game of musical chairs. We can bitch about it all we want, but the facts are the facts. I don’t see any evidence that we have many options. The B12 is not a viable option. It does nothing for us.
