I apologize if this has already been posted.

A few thoughts.

-Looks like Celestine still hasn't worked up the chart. I understand it's a grouping but still.

-Looks like Devin Head has regained his starting spot. Hopefully he channels some of that anger toward the Mountaineers Dlineman.

-At the other guard spot it looks like Behrens has beat out MTM. I still expect them to rotate alot though.

-Thank god Riar is back. I've been pleased with Devenny and Deehan. But Geer is a great target. This is a major upgrade.

-The tailback grouping continues to shift. I havn't noticed Moyd at all. I heard from Sacky that he was on for special teams. That's about it. Everything else was expected. Scott and Stewart should see alot of time. Especially the screen with Stewart.

-On the Defensive part of things, I'm glad to see Jimmy Smith and Anthony Wright back.

I'm really glad to see Jimmy Smith back. I have a gut feeling about him that he's going to blow up this year. Hopefully starting in this game. He's got skills and he's got size. All due respect to Cha'pelle but he's so small that it I wonder about his ability to cover some of the NFL type WR's the Big XII is loaded with.

I think Riar brings more stability in the blocking department too which will help the running game on the edge and picking up the 3-3-5 defense of WVU

I doubt he'll start. But he'll see plenty of time if healthy. I just don't know with WVU reverting back to the run.

But you can't really knock on Cha'pelle. He's been money. He can make the open field tackle. And he's got the PT experience. At least imo.

Oh, I agree. I really didn't mean to knock him. He's got wheels and he definitely knows how to play the game but I just meant that if it comes down to a jump ball between him and say mizzou's Jeremy Maclin I think the difference of six inches in height could be the key. Anyway, it's always good to have more quality players available.

Bill Stewart had some pretty high praise for Mr. Brown.

“They have three seniors up front with a senior linebacker and two junior linebackers,” Stewart said. “They have three seniors in the secondary with one All-American candidate in No. 29 Cha’pelle Brown.”

Interesting to see that Mohler is #1 at the Will. I wonder if that's basically for this game.

He had a phenomenal game vs. EWU. That kid was everywhere.

What's going on at DE? Where in the hell is OBI? Herrod and OBI need to start showing something.

I get a real kick out of imagining you typing your posts and when you get to the letters "o" "b" and "i" you yell really loud as you bash the keys. OBI! OBI! Maybe a little kick of the leg?

Nice.

Interesting to see Sumler is still the number 1 back, I know that who's starting at TB doesn't really matter and Hawk will give the carries to whoever is playing the best but he only got 2 carries last game. I don't know what other people think if him but he has never impressed me, I feel like even if he was the featured back 3 yds/touch is all that can be expected of him.

 I guess one could imagine me turning into jack nicholson at the type writer via the SHINING when posting obi in caps:smile2:

Nice one wsp:thumbsup:

I agree with syko on the Obi thing. Where has that guy been? Has he even played a down this year? Is there something wrong with him? He was supposed to be a monster DE, but so far - nada.

Agreed, he looked amazing in the EWU game and I'm glad he's turning into a huge JC pickup for us!

I am disappointed by Obi as well, the guy looked like a beast out of high school, was on of our first big recruits of Hawkins tenure, got great reviews and was the Scout Team Award Winner last year and now he's nowhere to be found. If he isn't the guy we thought he was our D-Line will be hurting even more next year.

I think the biggest Plus on this Depth Chart is not only that Riar is back, but he is healthy and strong enough to be listed as the starter. That is GREAT news!

I hate to be down on a Buff but I'm with you about Sumler. I remember reading a story about him as a freshman that said something to the effect that he had at times in the past had trouble going full speed on every play. Call it the Randy Moss effect if you will. That he has good talent isn't really in question. He put up a solid 85 yards on just a few carries against the rams last year but pretty much dogged it the rest of the year. I think they need to start Scott, give him solid carries and if he struggles you switch speeds with Stewart and you can use Sumler in short yardage.

Question. Why does everyone say use Sumler in short yardage? Why not Scott?

He had a good game against OU last year too..

Yeah, its kind of odd, sometimes I think Sumler looks good, other times, kind of so-so..

I don't know. It's a way to get him in the game and also to protect Scott a little bit from the wear and tear. I don't know if he's going to turn out as good as Adrian Peterson but using Peterson as an example: he had a ton of carries at OU but frequently got injured and I imagine that he doesn't have as much tread on the tires as you would think a second year pro should. He's going into his 5th year (college and NFL) of being a starting back and I'd be surprised if he lasts 5 years in the NFL without a serious injury. Anyway, I just don't know what the Buffs should do with Sumler. He seems to have a lot of trouble even picking up 2-3 yards per carry. I think you have to go with your blue chip recruit and see what happens.

Very typical for a underclassman. The kids a soph. Don't give up on him just yet.

Yeah, point taken.. Not giving up on him, I still think he'll have a role on this team although Scott and Stewart seem to have the breakaway speed that makes it hard to keep them off the field.

He's going to have to step up soon though. Don't forget about Polk. He should be ready to prove himself next year as well.
