The defense really stepped up and played a fantastic game tonight. The emergence of Speedy Stewart was great, as well!!

It looked like a great crowd, too.

It is great to be 3-0. Winning these close games will make this a better team in the long run.

Me too I'm afraid. It won't taste that bad with the nice win as a side dish:thumbsup:

Sorry to be the spoiler, but obviously WVU didn't get their hands on the EWU game film. They only threw 14 times, and the majority was late in the 4th qtr. Big ups to the d-line and linebacker core, however, they never threw the ball down field...

Big one, nice to see it, but my last take in the game: Both o-coordinators should be fired for horrible play calling (especially for the buffs in the 3rd qtr.)

HUGE WIN though... They're coming back, and Speedy is the man!

Hey Lt, you need to stop these doom and gloom Barnett-like game predictions you have for this team.. Hawk is turning this around, big time.. Start believing and begin drinking a little kool-aid.. Heck, even I'm starting to drink a little bit of the Ron Collins kool-aid.. (Did I just say that?:wow:)

Don't want to piss in your cheerios or anything but the defense played well against a completely one-dimensional team tonight. They were impressive against the run but most defenses would be knowing that a guy really can't hurt you with his arm. Let's see how they play against a team with both threats and you'll get a better idea of how good they will be. That being said, you guys have some playmakers emerging on offense and it's obvious that your D line isn't going to be pushed around at all. Good game tonight by a young team. Really showed some character.

I get your Point but those 3rd down critical plays when d stepped up on very short yardage can not be denied. I also would like to point how well disciplined most of the players played and stayed in there lanes and assignments.

Bottom line is......14 points.

I'll take scoring defense over any other statistical category.

That is true that we looked good against the No 21 team in the country. We might know more if we had played some sisters of the poor.

But yes, we will know much more after FSU and UT.

You're right. Just like your team was completely one-dimensional the 20 years before Callahan. And most defenses played well against them because of that, right?

I think there are a lot of folks on this board coming out of EWU-forced-psychoanalysis. This board was a mess last week. Odd to me still that people find a way to point to specific areas and say, 'we're not that good'....

For instance, one dimensional to describe WVU?!?!!? :wtf: That comment itself is, as Brian Regan would say, 'the epitome of hyperbole'. WVU is world class one dimensional. Some teams are so dominant at one dimension they can go to a BCS game. I love the naysayers and hopefuls (huskers) downplaying the win and the competition.

This team is improving week by week and its a good thing for CU football. Get on the bandwagon early and enjoy the ride.

Um, WVU CANT throw the football. They dont have an offense built around a gunslinging QB who throws it 60 times a game. Further more just about every time they threw something went wrong in the first half they threw for -5 yards in the second half for a whopping 48 yards. That is 3.1 yards per attempt which is terrible for a running back let alone a QB averaging 7 yards a carry when he runs.

You cant just decide to throw the football you have to have the personnel, or did you forget 2-10?

You are an idot as well, go watch some west vag. tape against ECU when they got bitched trying to throw the football. or better yet as I said about go watch our 2-10 season, you cant just decide to throw you have to have the guys to do it.

Confession: I originally picked a Buff loss on the prediction thread. This was based on the offensive struggles against EWU and the YouTube footage of Devine and White.

But as I boarded the flight to DEN to catch the game, I realized the error of my ways and edited my pick. What convinced me to flip flop was 1) the ECU loss, 2) rumors that WV were employing hyperboic chambers to get aclimatized to the altitude. 3) news that WV had a 6am flight home this morning. That team had 2 hours jet lag and a 4am wake-up call. Those intangibles changed my mind.

Sorry, Brian Cabral, for ever doubting your ability to stop a running team.

BTW - it took a large pair of stones to wear a skirt on the sidelines on a nationally televised game. Only a SB champion with such a storied resume could pull that off. I don't know if that lava-lava or whatever it's called was in tribute to Eddie Crowder, or in respect to Polynesian players and recruits. But whichever the case, Cabral coached a hell of a game.

He also rocked it for the ****braska game last year

This is true. He did this as a tribute to the seniors and in support of Dizon's Butkus award candidacy. Who knows the reason for the Hawaiian kilt for last night's game?

If the skirt brings victory, hell, wear it all the time. (But not so much that Nike introduces a new line of apparel, cus they'd mess it up)

I think it's okay to be critical of our team's performance, as long as we all recognize that there's nothing that we can do to affect or enhance how our guys play on the field.

We're all excited for the win. And I'm particularly excited by the manner in which CU's defense kept two of the more electrifying players in college football out of the endzone, for much of the game.

But I'm a little disappointed in the offensive output. That statement may be applied to all three games.

I'm not claiming to have the fix. I'm not smart on the X's and O's.

And I'm certainly not down on any of the players. I love the whole group of them and would adopt them all if I could. I'm a fan of our team and its personality.

Nor do I question the coaching staff. Those guys are the professionals, and as a fan, I'm on board with their plan. As I've often said, I wouldn't trade Coach Hawk for any other HC in the game. I feel the same way about most of his staff.

I just hoped we could put up 450 plus yards against WVU's inexeperienced D-line and secondary. I don't think the 'eers are particularly good on that side of the ball, and my gut tells me that our offense is sputtering, and will be exposed if it doesn't start clicking before we meet some real talent. There's a big upside to those young guys, and I think we'll get it going.

But yes, I'm hoping for more.

Go BUFFS!
