We should be ranked in the polls next week

NO we shouldn't, we had to come from behind at home to beat EWU. Let's take our win and focus on next week. Who cares about rankings, let the Fuskers whine about them. Let's get to 4-0 and let the chips fall where they may.

Without any votes last week in the AP and only 3 in the coaches it will take a lot of people dropping games before you guys see the top 25. JMHO.

Please... Jimmy doesn't start a thread unless it's actually noteworthy!

We are #1, BABY!!!!

Woot!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

we'll probably in the RV category--I couldn't care less--now if we happen to beat FSU and we are not ranked then there is a problem.

We don't deserve it yet, however, if we beat FSU on the road... We could be talking #6,7,8,9 Texas @ #25 Colorado!!!

I don't think we belong in the top 25 yet. WVA has issues and we didn't exploit them.

If we beat FSU next week, we will be ranked. And if we can end up winning 3 out of the next 5, we stand a good chance at being ranked at the end of the year.

3 wins are 3 wins. If not ranked this week, more attention will come our way for sure. Don't underestimate the role our D played in making WVU look bad. They shut down a good offense. There were some issues, but again good good execution on one team can make another team look hapless.

I am very pleased with the progress from Eastern Washington. Very pleased!

To me there are 2 numbers in this converstation. One of them I couldnt give a **** about and it falls in the range of 1-25, the other is one in which I am very happy about and it looks like this ---> 3-0

If Florida State deserves to be in the top 25 than we sure do.

Totally agree. That is pure BS that they are in the top 25. I don't necessarily agree that we are top 25 worthy but FSU has beat two FCS schools and now they are ranked playing in the horrible ACC.

You know, I really don't give a **** about being ranked. We're 3-0 for only the second time since 1995. That in itself is something to be ****ing ecstatic about. We keep winning, even in these "unimpressive" and flawed ways, the rest will happen in due course.

**** you for being so rational.

I'm happy as **** now and think it's funny that people are now saying how ****ty WVU is now and not much props to the buffs. More so from the haters, but a few buff fans too.

Who cares if we get ranked at this point. The next 4 weeks will let everyone know how good or bad this team is. If they win 3 out of the next 4 they will be top 15, but if they don't do that who cares if we are ranked #25 this week.

:iagree:

WVU is a good team with good talent, but they've got some serious issues right now. Identity crisis might be more like it. I don't think we're really ready to be ranked yet. Close though, and get another win in the next 2 games and they definetly should be.

I´d be fairly surprised if a win against the #21 ranked team was enough to jump from zero to ~120 votes (AP) or 3 to ~110 votes (Coaches).

If I watched last night´s game as a voter the main question on my mind wouldn´t be "Does CU deserve some votes?" but rather "How the hell did WVU manage to be ranked 21st in the nation?". I don´t want to take anything away from a good win or be Debbie Downer, but WVU last night didn´t show me why they were ranked #21.

I'd be disappointed if CU was ranked going into Jacksonville.

Let FSU believe in the polls and let an unranked CU team claim another upset of another ranked team, this time on the road.

Until CU starts dismantling their opponents 45-0 on a regular basis, I'm content with the underdog status that comes with being unranked. If CU beats a few more ranked teams over the next 4 games, things will take care of themselves.

being ranked is important for the program, so i do care and i do hope it happens, altho i don't think it will this week.

being ranked means that your score rolls on all the various scrolling text on all the news and sports channels. people see it more often.

being ranked means recruits have something measurable (in their minds) to say a program is good.

being ranked means more press coverage.

being ranked means we are winning much more than we are losing.

being ranked means an increased likelihood of television coverage, even for bad games.

ENDING the season ranked is hugely important for the growth of the program and is ultimately way more important than a ranking during the season for a week or something. but, i want us back to the days when we were in the top 20 for YEARS at a time, not wondering whether in some particular week we might sneak into the top 25.

being ranked is a very good thing for CU. i am not entering into the "deserve" conversation-- i just want the program to prosper and i'll take any indicator of progress... in this case, a possibly fleeting appearance in the top 25 wouldn't suck.

troo dat. however, i am sure several teams will be obliging to drop a few games and therefore drop out of the rankings.

all cu has to do is to turn some heads in the next several games. they are in the driver's seat of their own destiny. i like the path they are on.

last week, chusker was mocking buff fans with the snippet, "ewu". today, i would like to remind him that among our two programs, one has had a marquee win (last year) and seems to be turning the corner with respect to starting to beat ranked competition. when was the last time nebraska beat a ranked team? i think the skers may be one of the teams losing out to make way for the buffs, so long as we continue to improve.

jmho.

Congrats on the win Buffs that's definately a good thing for the Big XII. I don't think you'll be ranked just yet, but if you beat FSU I could definately see you guys in the 22 to 25 range. I watched some of the game last night, but I couldn't stay up to watch the whole thing considering I had only had 7 hours of sleep in 2 days. It was a good game and I thought I woke up real quick and seen it was in OT. I'm looking forward to the days when CU and NU are fighting for the Big XII North title again. F*&k you too 96............just trying to stay a step ahead of ya.

Completely agree here. If CU manages to beat FSU in Florida and gives a good fight against UT they should be ranked.
Nebraska has a new coach so it's kinda hard to talk about "turning a corner" in three games. There will be a lot of idiot husker homers clamoring for a ranking if we beat VT next week but I'll say it now: Even with a convincing win we shouldn't be ranked. I put VT and WVU in the same boat. Both have good traditions and have been successful lately but are falling flat this season. Beating either one is nice, but it's not a huge accomplishment. Again, congrats on a good win and an exciting game.

i dont disagree about the importance of having that cushy, little number right next to your name and id quite obviously be very happy if we were ranked, however, at this point of the season the rankings are pretty much a popularity contest with very little meaning as the rankings right now are heavily influenced by the pre-season rankings. that´s my sole point.

I am thinking CU should be somewhere in the 30-40 range right now, and maybe 20-25 if we beat FSU next weekend. 15-20 if we then beat UT. For the schedule we have this year and how young the team is, if we end the year in the 15-25 range I will be very happy with the progress. Well, I already am, to tell the truth. Now KSU, ISU, and A&M look like very possible wins, so another bowl game, and I think we have a good shot with KU on the road (at least it does not look unwinnable) and we get shots at UT and OSU at home. Still in the 7-8 win camp, but beat FSU on the road and that number night jump to 8-9. Mizzou looks to be a tough game on the road, and NU is so far away and have not played a big team yet, so they are hard to read right now. I still think CU will grow alot this year; don't think this is as good as we will be.

Far cry from a few years ago even when we were winning the B12 north, but everyone else's program was in the crapper. Now good teams abound and we are still doing good. Keep winning one game at a time and it will all work out. While it would be nice to be talking about 'will CU be top five again this week?', to even have conversations about being ranked is nice after '06.

i totally agree about the popularity contest part of it. they ought to hold off and not rank anyone until about the 5th week of the season. teams that have hype going into a season start higher than they often should and teams without hype start off the radar.

mostly, however, i am just nostalgic for the days when CU was quite literally in the top 20 for a stretch of many years without interruption. it would be great to get there again and i admit is a program expectation for me. i think we should pretty much always be in the top 25.

GO BUFFS!
