That’s the thing. We’re not 100% the issue is money. Money could be equal but the deciding factor could be the opportunity to be on ESPN and Fox.
Game day experience for road trips will likely be improved, even though destinations do suffer.
Road trips are easier w/ 5 schools within 12hrs of Denver.
Reconnect to Texas/Midwest alumni base.
Potentially more exposure and visibility. A Prime-led CU program in the Big 12 will have Fox and ESPN/ABC including them in marquee time slots alongside their SEC and B1G programs. Of course, that’s also assuming any Pac deal doesn’t also include the networks.
Do you feel that this cements cu in the “have nots” in college football? Pre prime we put ourselves firmly in that camp, but now we have the most dynamic coach in the game and then decide to move to a league with perceived lower competition. Seems odd to me. But your point about the playoff is well taken.
Just bring 1 if not all 3 of the other 4-corner schools and the move would be great.
If we stay and are making $10-$15M less than the Big12, which is already $10-$15M behind the Big10 and SEC we will be firmly in the have not category regardless.
Good point about guaranteed exposure. No idea what the pac can provide there.
The seethe from the California and wine/cheese segment of our fanbase makes me enjoy a B12 move even more.

Aside from money and stability the exposure figures to be night and day different. 70% of the games on ABC, FOX, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, or FS1 which is more than the recent PAC deal. The last chunk would be on ESPN+ which is usually 2 games per school and has 23M subscribers.
The PAC might be entirely streaming on outlets like apple (16M subs worldwide) and while some games might get sublicensed to linear I have my doubts on the quality of channel (The CW? Really?) and the amount of inventory a subscription service who also wants ad revenue will part with.
Any idea on when it is expected to be officially announced?

I’d say it’s 99% certain we’re the only one that moves. The boomer wanderlust for B12 cowboy towns is too strong at CU. Zona talks a good game but they’re not foolish enough to go. They are a P5 Gonzaga, smooth ride to the tourney every year.
I've abstained from updating, but high-level donors have been informed all in the last week. First by a "program ambassador" which (to me) was only a 99% indication, but then reconfirmed with a personal call from where the buck stops at CU.

Friday morning after the special BOR meeting at the earliest is my guess unless the Big 12 announces invites before then.
I see the improved basketball league, money and TV exposure as benefits here
Road trips to BYU will be cool (posted before, but one of the most positive experiences I had as a visiting opponent fan)
Maybe there's some diamonds in the rough, but IMO, the other road trips suck
Partying with WVU fans visiting Boulder could be fun. at least interesting (would be more relevant if late nights on Pearl Street were part of my life)
But for me personally, the top reason I like the idea of a XII move is that CU won't be in a conference (or alliance) with VT in the near future
