Upper Bowl closed for FSU game

Interesting that they say the reason FSU-Bama was a sellout was because of Saban's first year and not physical proximity for both sets of fans. It's not like most Buff fans have to travel 1500+ miles (Boulder to Jacksonville) to get there or anything...

Why was it moved to Jacksonville?

I heard Bohn on 950 last Thursday a few hours before the WV game and he said it was because FSU already had 7 games in Tallahassee and they wanted to do this to help promote their program over in the eastern part of the state. And I think they were gonna make the same amount of money or even more than they would for a home game, so it's not like it cost them to move the game.

They wanted to promote it because they have fallen to the 4th best team in that state behind Florida, South Florida and Miami.
:smile2:

They have alums all over the state. They play at Miami every other year and at Gainesville every other year. They try and get one game in JVille or Orlando Tampa for those alums.

Kind of off topic but what the hell are we doing playing FSU in a 2 for 1 deal anyway? Makes no sense whatsoever...

Just another example of why Dick Tharp was such a clueless jackass..

This is the last of the 2 for 1 deals, and I agree - Tharp was clueless.

The tickets were going for $20 at gametime. I paid $150 for mine about a month before the game. Jax is 3 hours for FSU and about 8 hours from Tuscaloosa.

FSU fans are jumping off the bandwagon.

I've read and heard they FSU fans don't travel well and their own stadium often isn't even sold out. They're definitely an anomaly for a big-time program in the South.

That is true. Also Jax is really Gator country.

I believe FSU played Va Tech in the ACC championship a few years back in Jack and I was shocked at how many empty seats there were for that game.. If FSU fans aren't going to show up for an ACC championship game, then they sure the heck aren't going to show for a regular season game in Jack..

kinda like another school in Florida... the Canes, never could sell out the Orange Bowl and their fans dont travel so well either....

After FSU's offensive turd of a performance against WF, not even the local Jacksonville crickets can be expected to show for this one.

This may be CU's least attended game yet. Strange CU would agree to travel across eight states to play the final game in this home-home-random nuetral stadium in FL series.

Maybe they could announce the East bleachers are closed, too, if the game were moved to Little Rock. Put college football back where it belongs; on campus.
