CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

I know this had to be posted before but for some reason missed it. It's too good not to share it again. Maybe some of you can understand why I was so passionate about the subject and can agree with Klatt and his "no brainer " comment.

If you guys are looking for a little delusion from our Pacific Northwest friends.

Seems to overlook the obvious problem of why would fox pay more for them and others to join the BIG while they can get them for a reduced rate in the Big 12?

Honestly, let’s grab Arizona and dominate this conference. With CP and his recruiting I think the buffs can become the premier program in the big 12. With ou and Texas gone, there is a void at the top. Maybe tcu fills it, maybe ksu, but I’d bet on a prime led cu.
****ing Utah ??
Puke.
IF CU hadn't **** the bed the last 15 years
Colorado would be listed in their place.

Unfortunately if true, this sentiment has always been on my mind.

Do people not have to manage their time? I don’t think I know anyone at this point who randomly sits down and flips through the channels and says well I might as well watch this game because it is on. My tv viewing is planned and intentional as is everyone I know. Good lord I am more disconnected than I realized and that is saying something.

Well there's on-demand watching of sports events. Miss a PacAfterDark game, you can watch it the next day or on a slow Monday. Read about an exciting game that occurred recently, you can watch it.

That is what I am doing this year going forward and watching those Cornhusker fans cry on national TV will never get old. Then catching up on those AllBuffs threads on Mondays will be fun reading.

I think CU is a complete wild card in realignment going forward. If Prime turns it around and shows commitment to staying longer than 3-4 years, CU is easily a top 20 brand and won’t be left out. If he can’t, we are forever relegated to the TTU, Iowa State, TCU, etc status of tier 2 programs.

4m viewers is the benchmark for a great ratings game. Have to think CU is going to have at least 5-6 of those this year which would be amazing and make

I agree.
No way Big10 goes to 22 schools that fast when there will be 4-5 ACC schools they will eventually want. I keep hearing/reading the BIG and SEC won't go beyond 24 schools.
I mean I’m no media expert, but maybe the only program in college football right now that could justify being paid the big 10 money is cu with coach prime due to the massive interest the program currently has. And no company would arrange a media rights deal around any coach for obvious reasons. I just don’t see how any of the pac schools could command even a half share when the conference can’t even get its own deal negotiated that’s even close. I’m also not sure of Oregon’s long term value with Phil knight in his 80s.

This may be true but we are in the Big 12 semi long-term. I bet there’s a huge buyout to leave the conference

In all seriousness, something we'd never worried about was CU's tier 3 content because we didn't make much from it. No big deal that it was all rolled into the conference. Now it might matter a whole hell of a lot. We have LHN-like opportunities as long as Prime is HC.
Not sure if it has been very specifically said, but WHAT IF... Prime would have actually NOT BEEN ALLOWED BY CONTRACT TO COACH IN THE PAC 12 if all the content was on Apple, and Prime has his Amazon Prime deals in place. I think there will be a weekly Coach Prime show on Amazon. I think we are moving to the Big 12 because we just cannot live in the Pac 12 anymore with Prime as our coach, end of the story

He worked out the Nike thing.

Nah.

This was about money and stability.

CU made the only choice it could.

I hear you, but maybe Amazon has a great thing going with Prime and just does not want him on Apple, and it was an actual irritation to coach.
They made the right choice
There were many reasons, but this one is like a red stop sign potentially, just guessing

Right and that’s why so many of us did not want CU to self-select ourselves out of the running for the B1G in the near term, bide our time in the P12, dominate and get an invite bc of Prime’s work. But it is what it is. The conference is inept and we needed the money.

Good point on rumors of schools joining the B1G when they can’t even get a decent media deal. That has not been mentioned nearly enough.

I think we need to play in several CFPs and win a natty to get an invite, similar to the run Clemson has had recently.

I was on the pac bandwagon pretty much the whole time, but the more I think of the big 12 with Arizona the more I like it. We can become the dominant school in the conference. In the Big that would never happen. That conference is ran by Ohio state and Michigan. If things went well we could be the newer Penn state maybe, but imagine Penn state in the big 12. They would run that conference. Maybe Clemson is a better example. During their run they played in a really easy conference and then played the top teams where Alabama and others weren’t used to playing their style because they didn’t play each other often and Clemson had success. CU + coach prime in the big 12 could replicate that example.

If you’re making the CFP you’re probably hovering around that top 5-10 ranking.
It’s more like hovering around top 15-20 consistently with a few great years that put you firmly in the top 10

Or just winning the Big 12.

There’s also a world of difference between being part of the super elite of CFB and hovering around the top 15-20.

If CU can do what Utah has done, they will be in great position.

I know there is more B12 news coming but it's a good time to recall an important fact:

The Big 12 owns the Big 16 trademark and Yormack is working on a rebrand of the conference. We might very well be playing in the B16 next year.

BY later said they decided to ditch the complete rebrand/ too much brand equity in the Big XII name.
