Paging the review booth...

Not blaming the loss on this in the slightest, but it certainly appeared to me that there were 3 big review situations in this game and the booth got all of them wrong.

1. Cody's fumble on the first drive. Seems to me that the ball going 5 yards down the field is fairly indicative of a forward passing motion. Maybe my logic is flawed.

2. Receiver fumble #1. The receiver clearly lost control of the ball long before he hit the ground (though he was able to temporarily pin it between his chest and his forearm). They had the call right on the field, then inexplicably overturned it. This was a debatable call, but the rulebook says that you only overturn a call made on the field if there is indisputable video evidence to the contrary. The overturn here did not live up to that standard, not even close.

3. Receiver fumble #2. Walters cleanly strips the ball from an FSU receiver along the sideline. The receiver stepping out of bounds and Walters stripping the ball clearly happen within a fraction of a second, but the booth doesn't even bother to stop the game and make sure they got the call right? What the hell was that?

So that's 3 turnovers, all of which went in FSU's favor, all of which could have and perhaps should have gone in CU's favor. Once again, not blaming the loss on that, but this has the potential to be a VERY different game without that first "turnover" in particular.

Not only the review booth but the refs in general. There were plenty of missed calls; holding, block in the back. I was very unimpressed with the lack of calls and the booth not pulling their heads out of their ass.

Yea - I didn't think there was any egregious calls that went against the Buffs, but the penalties felt inconsistent at best. One of those games where everything went against us.

The play was ruled not a fumble on the field. I'm not sure you can review that to then award a fumble. I mean, the whistle blew before the ball was recovered, so even if you determine it's a fumble, then what do you have? You can't give it to the team that recovered because the whistle blew before the recovery, which means someone else might have given up on getting to the ball. So you'd have an inadvertent whistle during a loose ball, which means FSU would have gotten the ball back.

Not saying it was a good call, just that I don't think it can be reviewed.

Not sure on the college rules, but that kind of play can be overturned in the NFL (as long as it's a running play and not a pass, a technicality we saw in the San Diego game a couple weeks ago).

Yes, but that's assuming they don't blow the whistle until the ball is in someone's possession, THEN they rule it not a fumble.

Here the whistle was blown while the ball was loose. Again, even if you determine it to be a fumble in the review, then it's an inadvertent whistle, and FSU gets the ball back.

This ref calls and reviews were very frustating to watch. Nothing going the Buffs way. or much less compared to the Criminoles.

Not true. Even if the whistle is blown, in the NFL a fumble that was called down by contact CAN be overturned as long as the opposing team recovers the ball shortly after the runner coughed the ball up. If there is an inadvertant whistle on an incomplete pass that turns out to be a fumble (as we saw in the Cutler/San Diego fiasco) that cannot be overturned, but if there's a whistle blown on a down by contact running play and replays show that a fumble DID occur and the defense recovered the ball immediately after it was fumbled, then the play can be overturned.

Trust me on this one, that play was well within the bounds of being a reviewable play by NFL standards, I just don't know if the NCAA has adopted the same policies.

I agree on the calls, we got screwed on the one they didnt even bother to review, the other one should have went our way as there was not enough evidence to overturn it.

The game was really sloppy all together and had no rythem at all. Seemed like every other play they were stopping the game for a review, or a penalty... Neither team was ever able to get into a rythem except for FSU's late TD drive and that pretty much sealed the deal.

The refs were awful but still the loss should be blamed on both Hawkins

But what if that kick return didnt get fumbled pinning us deep before half? That resulted in a safety, and a quick FG before the half plus all the associated momentum that went with it? We could have scored on that drive, and kept 5 pts off their board for sure.

Whoever missed that tackle on the 60 yd run in the 2nd can share some blame too. The guy that got out of his lane on the kickoff that came back for a TD can take some blame.

Cody did miss 2 easy TDs in the first half though, yeah, lets put all the blame on him.

Or they could HTFU and kick some ass next week!

Why the **** are we able to move the ball on the first couple drives of the game and then not again until last few minutes of the game? We need a consistent offense.

Cody fumbled the god damned ball. Get over it. It came out as he was going back then he slapped it forward. It was the right call! He ****ed up.

I don't agree with this, but that is just my IMO, and I am not too upset with what the refs decided. My take is that each reviewed play was could have gone either way, 50/50. Buffs had a bad run and just didn't get any calls to fall their way. Dem be the breaks. I don't think the refs made any call that cost us the game (ala San Diego Dolts).

I thought we kind of got screwed on the WR FSU fumble because I couldn't tell if he was down.. The others I wasn't too angry about..

Still the Buffs had their chances in the 2nd quarter to take control of this game.. Missed opportunity for our football team.

The officiating at best was horrible to mediocre.

And I didn't see it mentioned, but did anyone else think the FSU left DT jumped offsides before the snap on their safety?

Sorry for my angry post yesterday. But the fumble that looked like a forward pass was a fumble. It slipped out of his hand as he was taking it back. Then he kind of swatted it forward.
