Get a medical redshirt according to an article on Rivals.com

Hawkins confirmed during Monday morning's Big 12 conference call that Miller will not be able to return this season. He added that Miller will "be able to get" a medical hardship waiver so he will come back in 2009 with three years of eligibility remaining.

:woot:

however, I reserve further wooting until confirmation by the NCAA assholes.

Well at least that is good news.

Im pretty sure they have no way of knowing that, just speculation. Seems like this is a borderline situation. 4 games in to the season, tough call.

has anyone heard if Max will get a redshirt as well. This would be huge huge huge for our future if we can have another year with both of those guys

Not positive, but from what i understand both guys will. Who the **** is running NCAA these days. CU might get something good from them:confused:

Sorry, while the NCAA lets USC walk on horrific violations, like letting agents throw money at Reggie Bush and family, they will **** CU.

I read today (Denver Post) that Max gets the medical redshirt, not Miller.

did you read that Max is getting one and Miller is not, or Max is and we aren't sure about Miller yet because the NC Double A$$holes haven't made up their mind yet?

Hawkins said both Miller and Max Tuioti-Mariner are eligible for medical hardship waivers which would allow them to count this fall as a redshirt year even though they have played.

The NCAA changed the rules on Aug. 1 of this year to say that a player in a team sport can qualify for a medical redshirt if he or she hasn’t competed in more than 30 percent of their team’s games. Miller played in four games, the most allowable under the new rule.

Wouldn't 4 games out of 12 be more than 30 percent?

For that matter, even if they count a potential bowl game, it's still just over 30 percent.

Maybe they count the potential CCG as well - that would get under the 30 percent limit...

The rule is that if the 30% is a fraction of a game, you round up. 30% of 12 games is 3.6 games, so you round up to 4.

to be exact, miller played 3 complete games and just over a half of another game.

i dont know if that "just over a half of the 4th game" matters or not.

I guess it just shows that I shouldn't believe everything I read in the Denver Post.
