full. For me anyway. Now that I've slept on it for an hour, thought for 20 minutes, slept for an hour, thought for 15 minutes... I don't sleep well after a loss.

First, and I hate the "at the beginning of the year deal", but at the beginning of the year if you told me we'd be 3-2 I'd be like, "Well, I think we should be better, but I'll take it, I guess." Kind of luke warm.

Second, against FSU, we were three pass plays from having a real good chance of beating them.

As for Texas. We lost 35-14. Now, I know that woulda/shoulda is bogus because of cause and effect. But, we shoulda made those three field goals and McCoy shoulda not been able to throw that past the line pass for a TD. Those woulda put us up 9-7. We shuoulda not turned the ball over on our on 10, giving them a TD. So we are talking about giving them 14 and taking away 9. We shoulda won 23-21!

Now, back to some sanity. There defensive strength is just a devestating line. Our offensive weakness right now is our banged up line. They totally controlled the line when we were on offense.

On defense, really, we held our on. One goofy pass play, one long run, and one short field led to 21 of there 35 points. So, our kids need to take a deep breath. They are a good bunch of kids. We have more talent than KU although less experienced. We have a damned good chance of beating them. We do that, we are 4-2. We should beat ksu to put us at 5-2.

My glass is half full, baby!

On the half full side,
1) Mohler was a monster, in on a lot of tackels.
2) Cha'pelle and Jalil Brown held their own.
3) Patrick Williams had good hands and lead the team in receiving.
4) McKnight's pass completion ratio was better than Colt McKoy's. That was a beautiful throw to Scott was beatuful.
5) Ballenger had a better pass completion ratio than Colt. His throw to Patrick Williams was perfect. And he managed to escape the pocket to scramble for positive yardage with his feet. A mobile QB is an exciting novelty.
6) Two picks. And the Heisman failed to complete 80% of his passes. (But between passing and throwing, he accounted for 300 yards).
7) Offensive Tackle Harris committed, an probably could have contributed if he were allowed to suit up last night.
5) Ballenger

Definately half full....we played a great Texas team and the outcome wasn't what we wanted to see, but I still see us with a chance to win 6 or 7 games and this team record wise is about exactly where everyone had them in the beginning of the season....so why jump off a bridge now??

There are a lot of positives that can be taken from the first 5 games, and I truly believe if we could put out a completely healthy team (including guys that missed the complete season due to academics and preseason injuries) we could play with anyone!

Pinkel gives (or used to give) his backup a series in every game. why not give Ballenger a series? if he's not ready, then we find out.

What are the stats if you add in tossing, chucking, frozen ropes, bullets, and wingin'it?:smile2:

yeah, looked like we reached into the 06 playbook and called that play we used to run with BJax...the one where the QB rolls out (being chased by 2-3 opposing linemen) and heaves it into the stands. :smile2:

you mean back when mizzzerry was ****ty and falling apart late in every season? yeah thats a team we want to emulate.

It is half full, but we need some confidence in the worst way right now. This young team seems pretty shaky right now, but a win and some success is sorely needed (especially on offense).

we do not have Chase Daniel on our roster

No, but if I remember right, he was only a three star recruit so no one expected him to turn into what he is today. But getting those reps every game as a youngin' he was able to become a Heisman candidate.

so you are all for getting Cody as many reps as possible?

I see what you did there. I guess both guys should get gametime reps (at similar points in game; ie. no wash-up minutes) so we can see who is more effective.
sure. pretty confident about what would happen (unless Ballenger has completely changed since fall camp).

Sophomore slumps happen. Especially against defenses like FSU and UT.

I really liked what I saw out of the defense. They kept CU in the game until late in the third quarter. The front 4 were doing a solid job with the pressure and they held one of the top running games, effectively, in check.

And, they got dicked on the first UT drive...Colt was beyond the LOS.....

I was at the game, and did not hear the "official" explanation. What is the deal?

Apparently since his feet were behind the LOS, it was a legal forward pass. I really don't understand the rule, but I watched the replay today and the announcers seemed to think the officials got it right (even consulted with the head of Big 12 officials).
