OFFICIAL CU vs. ASU game thread 10/7/23

That's the big thing. When defenses can get pressure and sacks when rushing 4, the entire offense suffers greatly.

The fact that #2 can still make plays with this oline is very impressive.

I think he even improved on holding the ball too long. Yes, he got stacked alot again this week, but most of not all were not on him, but on the oline
He held the ball too long on a couple of incomplete passes but all of his sacks were either coverage or, OL is weak or missed assignments.

The WRs were bad yesterday but PFF thinks they were horrible. I thought it was more of the scheme due to the lack of protection in the pocket. Hard to run Coach Lewis offense if you can't protect.

Anybody hear why Dilly didn’t go for 2? Did he address it in presser?
Thought for sure he would have. But it wouldn’t have mattered with Mata. Can we get some “Doesn’t matter with Mata” merch please? Hand out to our offensive line and defense so they have something to hang their hats on.

Biggest hater of them all.

Sounds like Danny boy's taking this all too personal. What a clown. I'd expect that post from a nub or rammie, not from a paid CBS analyst. 🤡
Danny hates Prime (as do most/many FSU alum/fans now). He’s been wrong about CP/CU for the most part. He’s been called a hoe by Deion Jr. He’s going to keep being loud when he can point out negative things and quiet when CU does well.

Mocking the ASU student section and gloating about beating a 1-4 team is viewed as negative in his eyes. Nevermind the fact that CU was never supposed to be some kind of juggernaut that handles the mid and bottom tier programs in the P12 with ease.

It's a decent pass defense. They are Hella well coached. They might be the first team that confused 2 this year. When they did it to Caleb, I just put it as a mark on Caleb but they done did it to all of these QBs. Damn! I gotta give love to their DC. The real MVP for Arizona State
Defense wins football games. Watching our offense is finally fun again. I’d like for our D to be aggressive and feared by opponents. We don’t have that yet.

I think mocking a 1-4 fanbase who was on the cusp of redemption and had fools hope in their hearts only to see it snatched away is significantly funnier than mocking USC if we beat them

As for the game. How is it that young had two guys to block, yet both go right around him while he is flat footed? No effort, did he just say “stop” like an overwhelmed school security guard, while getting abused?

The ankle grab and turf monster tackling are nuisances. On the flip side, tackling above the waist and not wrapping up should be prohibited and punishable by conditioning drills. You’re not going to bring many players at this level just by running full speed into them…

Special teams are, well… special. Can we ever find a kicker to kick it into the back of the end zone and not to the 20, if it stays inbounds?!

The bright spots - Shedeur can take over a game…and do more with less. If there was an o-line similar to 2016 in front, it’d make a world of difference. If he had an Oregon/USC/UW/Utah type line…it’d be out of this world.

Having multiple capable targets at receiver is great. Again, if the line was conference serviceable…maybe opponents wouldn’t rush 3-4 and drop the rest back in coverage? Hard to find or see coverage development when 2 guys are bearing down on you.

This team, even as is, can perform a lot better than what they’ve shown since the CSU game. No way Travis Hunter can be the X factor. They just need to come out and set the tempo of the game. Too many teams have the game against the Buffs astheir own in-season Super Bowl. Especially young and/or irrelevant HC’s with chips on their shoulders.
