I think smart has been solid and I thought b.j.beatty looked real good on saturday, plays with a fire.

Overall,I thought we'd see some more plays from these guys and they would be a more dominant group.

Thoughts?

Mohler's the only LB that I've been impressed with...Brad Jones has made more plays as a Defensive End than a LB....everyone else has really just been ok

Mohler has been bad ass. Smart has had some serious issues getting off blockers, even though he is often in the right place. Beatty looked great at KU. Brad Jones has been decent, and is much improved in pass coverage (he covered a certain future NFL TE that trashed him last year) No one else as done anything.

I think they have been very good, but they aren't, as a group, blazing fast. But Mohler has been very good and as Rippy, Major, Katoa, etc. come into their own this group will become game changers. Remember, Brad Jones is doing double duty as a pass rusher.

It would be nice to see a big play or two, but the defense as a whole has been pretty good at keeping teams in front of us and making them work for points. If the offense can get control of the line of scrimmage this unit could be quite good.

I've been disappointed with the LB's, to be honest. I remember hearing how dominant Sipili was going to be last year before the suspension. Now, a year later, and what? I think I've heard his name mentioned once.

Jones and Mohler have been good.

I thought he would be more diminate also, burton looked good in spring and fall but hasn't gotten much playing time at lb.

mohler has been real good, just seems like we are a little slow and haven't tackled as well so far this season.

Sipili has gotten slow. He looks heavy. I still love the play of Mohler. Just think of when Rippy, Major, Mohler and Katoa are roaming the area next year with Beatty. It could be a scary set for sure.

Looks to me that while Mohler seems to be every where, he has not been tackling well and got burned by a gimp reciever from KU on multiple occassions. I thin he needs to work on his strength and pass coverage. Overall he has played well as has Smart. Can't wait to get Koata on the filed next year.

Mohler and Smart have been solid. Smart is averaging about 9 tackles a game. Mohler is close with about about 8. I'm also happy with Brad Jones. He's been doing really well pressuring the pocket. Hopefully we can see some sacks on Saturday.

A LB trying to cover a WR (even a hobbled WR) is a pretty big mismatch. That is getting out-schemed there.

LB's have held their own... I wish injuries and off field tiffs didn't take away valuable experience from some of the younger LB's. I think that the early season next year will show the inexperience. It's going to be up to (yet tough) for Mohler to step up and be a leader for those young guys... LB's have played well, just lack a little speed--which I think is currently being redshirted right now.

Had to edit to mention, that Beatty showed some good stuff vs. KU. I look forward to watching him more. But could we possibly throw in a haircut?
