Struggling Big 12 team removes redshirt from under recruited QB

Forgive me if this comparison was already made but I remember two years ago listening to the Buffs play in Lawrence. Mangino burned Reesing's redshirt and you know how that game turned out. KU was 3-5 at the time and had lost 4 straight. Reesing almost single-handedly beat CU and KU season turned around to be bowl eligible.

I am not advocating pushing the panic button but most agree Cody in not the QB of the future or to get us to the next level. The jury is still out on Ballenger but does not appear to be the answer from what little we have seen. From many accounts, Hansen appears to have the goods. Why not burn the redshirt and throw the kid into the fire?

I see very little value in the RS at this point with Evans and Wynn (hopefully) coming in. If I were him, I would be itching to burn the redshirt and establish myself right now. D Scott has no red shirt, Miller getting medical RS, etc. I would want to be the number one with experience going into camp next year. Just a thought…

Has anybody mentioned giving Nelson a shot?

Good Call Buttermaker! Nostradamus like rep...

Cody has his positives but even on his play of the game, (the long pass for a first down late in the fourth) that was like a hail mary for him. It worked but man was it nice to have a QB in the game that could throw the ball like it was on a rope. Hansen needs to get alot more reps in so more of the playbook is open to him. Cody still had a few passes tipped and it seems like the D doesn't even try to rush him as hard but they do make sure and get their hands up when he is in the game. I think the word is out on Cody.
