The thing is that the more you weigh the more weight you can push too. He's not a bodybuilder so single digit BF isn't going to help him, he's a LT. The highest weight division for powerlifters, olympic weightlifters and strongmen have guys that easily outweigh him. He needs to add more weight to his frame. Scouts would consider him undersized right now. That's ok though, he's doing a pretty good job, especially when you consider the position switch.
Hopefully we don't make a bowl game so he can start eating and lifting sooner than later.
Strength is the amount of force that can be exerted. Power is the amount of force you can exert over time. Force is mass * acceleration. The more you way the more force you can exert the harder it is for DEs to push you around. That's why I've always felt bench press is severely over exaggerated as a quintessential upper body movement. An outstanding overhead press is a stronger move since your stabilizer muscles are working 10 times as hard and you don't "bench" someone on the line.
Oh, and some of the heaviest guys that Oly lift a lot are some of the most flexible and powerful athletes on the planet. I'd take them over a strong man any day so he can definitely still keep his stats and agility up if he works at it, although it does sometimes make it harder when you weigh more.
Oh and awesome performance by Solder. I guess he had to learn quickly by being thrown into the fire against some future 1st round draft picks. He and Miller will be the best tandem bookends in CFB next year. That was the best decision the coaches have made so far and Solder will be thankful when he goes on to the NFL.
