1988

I always thought that streak was a tough one to eventually lose, and of course, the 70-3 loss to Texas certainly SHOULD have ended it... and the FSU game last year COULD have ended it, but why the **** did it have to come against Missouri.

That was a good year.....I graduated in 1988.

Not sure how Hawk spins anything good out of this debacle.

I'm just glad we don't have to hear about some stupid scoring streak every time we lose. JMHO.

Exactly. I always hated bringing that stat up every single blowout.

Hey cool, we scored a TD to only lose 55-7!:rolleyes:

That really f-ing sucks!

It doesn't suck at all. 1988 was the year the program turned around. We played for the national championship the next two years. That ****ing steak was an albatross that needed to die.

I continue to like the comparisons of Hawk to a certain other CU coach. I wish the comparison's were more of hte good years and less of the bad years tho...

Did I hate for the team to lose its shutout streak? Abso-freaking-lutely. Being shutout is never fun, but the article really puts it in perspective. We've been blown out and had luck go our way sometimes (Wheatley's INT, Bloom's return), but I like the way Hawk thinks.

Yeah, it seemed like everyone's head was down when we were down 14 early, but Hawk wanted the O to show that it can score TDs. I'm sure the kids' heads were really down after the game ended and the bright lights showed CU 0. It sucks, but the coaching staff has to let the kids know they believe in them. This game was certainly not the first time that Hawk went for it on 4th with us at 0 pts on the board. It's just that those other times we converted. We didn't against Mizzou. You can't convert them all, unfortunately. A really crappy break, but going for the FG with 30s left when you are down 58 points is leadership that will never get you to the promised land. You could say leadership wouldn't put you down 58 points, and I'll concede that, but we have problems besides coaching right now, even though I have don't like our OC's and DC's game planning a lot of the time (see http://www.allbuffs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29684) and our ST plan. We have to coach these kids up. That happens on each and every play, especially when they aren't used to adversity; I bet a lot of our young guys were on championship-caliber HS teams.

Doesn't anyone remember LSU vs Auburn last year? LSU was down, but could have kicked a FG to win the game. I thought the clock was being mismanaged, but Les Miles pushed on and had faith in his O to win the game with 3 seconds left. That takes huge ****ing balls, my friends. He loses that game and he doesn't get a shot at the mNC and is fired from LSU given their talent last year.

If not, look here:

Watching an LSU game is a treat. They run trick plays often, but their execution is usually awesome. That will come with time (experience) and talented players. Clutch. I'm still sad we don't get to play LSU at Tiger Stadium. That would probably be the trip of a lifetime, especially if we were to win. And for the naysayers, yes I know they aren't performing well this year, but they had a dropoff since last year and may I remind you they won the mNC and kicked off their star QB this year and Flynn graduated.

Anyway, the jury is still out on Hawk and whether he will take us to the promised land or not, but we have to cultivate a attitude and culture of winning. Unfortunately, that means you are just going to take your lumps along the way. Take it like a man and realize there's going to be another game on Saturday to start a new streak.
