I know most of you are getting over it by now. I have and just relized that ya it was pretty embarrassing but whats the difference in the standings between getting slaughtered or losing a nail bitter. Who seriously thought we would win? I wanted to be optimistic but i knew we would lose. Its just a game its not like one of our loves one died. These are college athletes most only 19 or 20 years. Come on guys just take a break on everything. Hawk will be alright our O will be fine soon. Come on its just one game and its one more game of experience for our young team. Lighten up and we will be okay. It shows on your guys' predictions. Go buffs

I would like to agree with you but there is something about 58-0 that is inexcusable for me, with any team you have. The 2-10 monstrosity didn't manage to get beat that bad...

Dude I was just as mad and about to start a thread for DH being fired. Yes losing by that much bothered me, but tomorrow are any of the SEC fans or any other fans outside the B12 going to even remember it. Not saying its not embarrassing and we dont look like we will ever win a game this year. I think its a wake up call and will get the boys pumped up for the next game. We bounced back from the blowout last year. Whats different bout this one.

The bounce back lasted a half. CU was up 21-0 over Iowa State, but then fell completely apart in a 31-28 loss. Let's hope the bounce back lasts four quarters on Saturday!

I am starting agree. Last year, we got beat by Misery AT HOME 55 - 10 and nobody melted down like this. Last year we had 196 yards total offense and the only reason we scored is because we got the ball on their 11 yard line.

We were facing a better, more experienced, Mis. team in their house. This was a "circle-the-wagons" game for MU after 2 losses. This should not have come as a suprise given last year.

We are 4-4 and and that is where most people (sane people) thought we would be at this point. I understand the seeming lack of improvement, enthusiasm and cohesion, but there have been some obstacles. We have 4 games left. Let's see what happens and jump off the bridge then.

The reason I'm melting down is because we employed the exact same strategy this year as we did last year with Missouri. Three man rush and play 10 yards off the receiver is giving up before the game even starts.

Here's what I don't get. How come the Buffs can do very well against Tech's attack but get absolutely lit up by Mizzou no matter what we try? It bottles my mind.

I disagree and here's why. If cu goes to mizzou and loses say 38-20. Yes,the record doesn't change nor the standings but there would be more CONFIDENCE with this team, especially the offense.

The one thing lacking besides the various reasons posted on the board is this team lacks any confidence right now.

Losing 58-0 just kills a young team's psyche.

Hopefully they are ticked and mad at their performance (this includes coaching staff0 and they put it together.

We need a k-state like performance on defense to have a chance.

Syko- I agree that confidence is lacking but that is a difficult thing to gauge. Is getting blown out more demoralizing to a young team than losing a game that you had won or almost won but blew it at the last minute?

I think we'll see how this team pulls out of the depths this week. This team needs to find its identity, whether it is Hansen, Cody, D Scott and Speedy running the Single wing, or whatever.

Two reasons why its worse than losing a nail biter:
1. Recruiting
2. The overall vibe of the program really goes in the ****ter, locker room and outside of it.

I agree with Syko on this one...

I hope we're pissed and play with some aggression. The reason I was so frustrated with the game was entirely due to the way we lost and not the score. We rolled over and never attempted to get up.

Hawk needs to get pissed. His emotion carries to the team. If he appears to be OK getting thrashed and demoralized the team will play that way.

A loss is a loss. I just hope we NEVER lose like that again (meaning no emotion and not the scoreboard)!

1 - Maybe. Could bring up dead horse D Scott coming for MU last year (too late). Recruiting is constant battle and at least we are going after top level talent.
2 - At least there is a vibe. We backed into Big XII title games and thought the program was great. I think if the staff lets the attitude go in the "****ter", they are to blame. If the fans go in "****er", they are front runners or delusional.

I am willing to see how the season plays out but still have some Kool-Aid in the glass at 4-4.

Agreed, but what cannot happen is losing out the season or being seriously blown out again (especially if that happens again kNU... that would be unacceptable). Even at (god forbid) 5-7 and we are competitive in the rest of the games I will be ok with it especially if there is some improvement in the offense.

As someone who can be irrational after a loss(Iowa State last year) and have actually done the unthinkable and defended the Buffs play vs Eastern Washington against the doubters along with drinking the Hawk kool-aid after WVU; I've really have had to step back and take this beating in.. 58-0 is inexcusable and to see us not even put up a fight against Missouri 2 minutes into the game doesn't really reflect well on the Hawk regime. The way the team played makes it feel like we are going backwards since the start of the year... I don't follow recruiting too closely, but I see every other rival has over 15 commits and we are stuck with 5 and its almost November. And for some reason 2 of them are QB's.. So, what the hell is going on?

I still support Hawk, but he needs to get it going in the recruiting department, because from what I've seen strategy wise from the coaching staff isn't very encouraging.

I think this is skewing a lot of our views these days. The north was the cripple fight episode of south park. The last one, I swear to god, I think ISU choked away on purpose because of the absolute destruction that Texas was going to lay onto the north winner. I went to every one of those title games, and outside the first one, I never felt like we were really "in" any of them. We were getting worse then but the record wasn't really reflecting it.

Here is why the MU loss pisses me off. We looked like Baylor. Showing up and hoping the beatdown wasn't going to be that bad/would end quickly so we could just go home. From the coaches down the Buffs looked like they had already accepted the fact they were going to get their asses kicked.

The way that you spin defeats like this is thus: "Look, we are hurting now in several key places that produce lopsided defeats like this one. We don't have any down weeks at CU. You come play with us, and you will play against the best players in the country nearly every single week. In addition, given the performance of some of the incumbants in Saturday's game you will have every opportunity to prove that you deserve immediate playtime."

I don't think that one lopsided loss hurts recruiting as much as you might think. If the Buffs were losing week in and week out like this then I would perhaps think that it would negatively impact recruiting, but they still stand a good chance of getting to a bowl after playing a horrendous schedule.

Well, we had alot less injuries last year, were not trying a new system, and lost to them 55-10 at home. This year we are trying new stuff, have tons of injuries, and they were pissed at blowing probably the only shot they will ever have at a MNC. That is the primer of an epic beatdown. Still sucks, but I am more interested in how we do against ISU and A&M. I mark OSU as a loss (big). and NU at UNL will be tough to win unless we see alot different team in the next few weeks. I think 6 wins is were we end up-- 7 would be great, as that means we beat NU. But teams have figured out that the OL is dead, and are just blitzing at will. That makes it tough for anyone. If the OL can jell enough to give TH time, we will makes some gains. He does not have to have 6 seconds, but three or so would be very nice.

That happened on about all of 5 offensive plays last week.

However, he did complete a lot of passes considering. I like the kid. Wish his WR's were taller then me cause he can really gun it over the middle and these guys just can't go up and get it.

Have we been watching different seasons? Sure, saturday's game was the first time the Buffs had been shut out but it's not like they hung with fsu, texas, and kansas. They got worked and the recruits saw it. They got outplayed and outcoached in each of those games. The loss to kansas was particularly galling. It's freaking kansas! Face it, over the last 5 years and more the Buffs have routinely gotten hammered by superior opponents on national television. Surely you're not going to spin that as some kind of positive?

A loss is not a loss...

we did not even compete in that game. It was embarrassing to see a Buff team so unprepared to take the field....

Yeah, maybe we are watching different seasons. What I saw was a team that was down by 11 points with 13 minutes to go against FSU and down by 2 points on the road to Kansas with 13 to go. They certainly didn't hang with either of those teams . Or maybe, just maybe, if 2-3 plays go the other way, especially against Kansas, they win those games.

Let's face it, besides Texas and Mizzou no games have been unwinnable in the 4th quarter. That's against a top 10 schedule. Like I said, if you come to Colorado you play against the best.

I can't really spin getting blown out on National TV as a positive, other than it will attract the kind of recruits who want to help change that and work hard to do so. All I'm really saying is that 1 loss is 1 loss; it doesn't have that big of an impact on recruiting as some would have you believe. Most of these kids will have forgotten the score by signing day.

You know, in all seriousness. I have to tip my hat to you. Your positivity is admirable. I really didn't see the Buffs as being 'in' those games because I could see they had practically no punch at all and it would have taken a grip of opponent turnovers and or competent special teams plays to put up enough points to come out on top. At least that's how I saw it but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway. Positive rep to you brother.

After another day of thinking about it I remembered what it was like in high school playing football. We were a bottom team playing a top team and we didn't think we had a chance to win. You need to believe you can and they didn't think that they could. Look waht happened. I can picture DH saying, "Believe, Brotha!" He needs another rant to pump up this team. Call out players call out his coordinators. Come on hawk get pumped up.

A loss is not a loss when you are talking about the difference between a 3 point loss and a 58 point loss.

One is heart-breaking and sucks.

The other is totally demoralizing and sets your entire teams confidence back significantly.

The reason I'm melting down is because we employed the exact same strategy this year as we did last year with Missouri. Three man rush and play 10 yards off the receiver is giving up before the game even starts.

Agreed- Play em straight up- if you compete you compete- If not you lose 58-0

But going out there giving them the entire field to pick you apart is gift wrapping that 58-0 beat down!
