Worth reflecting on I think...

I think it's a reasonable comparison to make in a "There but for the Grace of God go I" kind of way.

I don't know if it's fair to make an direct comparison with the CU situation but it's remarkable that these two programs were once national powerhouses and have both fallen to the level of laughingstock.
I think to put CU in the category of laughingstock is pretty harsh. As said above, we are 4-4, not 0-8. There might be some similarities and we might have headed in that direction without Hawkins. I think we hired the right guy and UW didn't.

Be warned, if they can hold that staff together UCLA will be a force in short order.

How old is Norm Chow, anyway?

I guess I'm in the camp of "I'll believe it when I see it" from a Neuhisel team. They are historically soft, and I don't see that changing with the new staff.

Your point is well taken but come on man. This program has taken some brutal almost unreal whippings in the last few years including 70-3 and 58-0 as well as 3 straight losses to kansas (hereby officially known as 'freaking kansas!). Then there are the inexplicable losses to baylor and iowa state, with a number of national TV losses to FSU, Miami, Clemson, Georgia, and Alabama thrown in for good measure. Oh yes, lest I forget the juggernaut that is montana state also beat us. Huzzah. I've said this before but what is football about if not winning (or at least legitimate progress towards that end)? I'm sure I'll get more neg reps from anonymous cowards calling me a 'fairweather fan'. F*ck that. I've been a fan since childhood, got my education here, donated and spent far more time and effort supporting the program than a thirtysomething family man should and I expect better from the team than the garbage we've been fed. Disagree with me if you like but a fairweather fan I am not.

Just so you know Buttermaker, I'm not directing any of my anger against you or anyone in particular I just happened to respond to your post. Sorry about that.

Chow is 62, and to be honest the fact UCLA has beaten anyone this year is damn impressive. They make our injury issues look like a joke.

There is some validity but by lumping the Barnett era with the Hawkins era, it makes it worse. This program was going down the drain during the end of GB's tenure and people don't want to admit it. We stopped recruiting top talent, the AD was not raising money, alienated ex-players and top to bottom, this thing was broke.

Bohn and Hawkins have put new life into the program, but it is an uphill battle. I don't think you are a fairweather fan for having some doubts. I am with you, I too have invested a lot of time and money in this and have not been too happy with the product. However, we have to continue to believe we are going in the right direction no matter how painful it is to take our lumps.

Laughingstock? Please. Maybe for a week because of a 58-0 loss, but I don't think that folks in Morgantown or Manhattan are laughing right now. Washington's run into a buzzsaw of a schedule this year as well, but we're not one of the worst BCS teams in the country.
