I apologize if I missed the news but has anyone heard if these two will get a mediacal redshirt year or when they will know?

Thanks

I'm sure we would have seen something in the paper but I have not seen anything yet. I suspect we won't hear until after the season or early spring.

Max should definately get one. I think Miller is the one in question at this point.

I swear I read somewhere that both will get them. I'm about 90% confident.

I believe I read that both will apply--I haven't seen anything stating that they've been granted. We could use the extra eligiblity.

Hawk said in a news conference right after they were hurt that both will get medical redshirts. They will qualify because they played in less than 4 games (Miller was injured in the fourth, MTM the week after the third).

I believe the only reason we haven't heard anything yet is that the season is not over. Miller and MTM will not play again this season - they know it, we know it - but the NCAA doesn't know it.

Imagine a scenario where the NCAA grants a medical redshirt year and then the player (miraculously!) gets better.

Okay, so that would only happen at Nebraska - but those in the ivory towers will take no chances. We won't hear about the medical redshirts until January.

I have a class with Miller and asked him if he was getting a medical RS the Monday after he was hurt. He said yes, for whatever that's worth.

"Hawkins said procedures to secure extra years of eligibility for sophomore tackle Ryan Miller and freshman guard Max Tuioti-Mariner are “in the works.” He said he anticipates “no issues.” Miller and Tuioti-Mariner suffered season-ending injuries in September"

They will each apply for the MRs in the off-season - but each of them are very likely to be awarded the RSs, given their level of participation this season (< 25%) and the NCAAs history of granting them in such cases.

Are we far enough out of Miles Brand's doghouse to reasonably expect approval of the MRS?

The Medical waiver rule was changed this year so you could participate in up to 4 games and still receive the waiver. Both of them should receive it - the applications will not go in until after the season. The conference actually is the entity that administers the rule.

I talked to Ryan Millers dad and he said that it is finalized and set in stone of getting a medical redshirt. Ryan said it himself as well at the Columbine Cherry Creek Game.He had no crutches!!!

After that game we were sitting in the car in the parking lot traffic and he was walking away from us and cornh8er shouts, "Get healthy," and good ole Ryan Miller throw his arms in the air triumphantly and shouts, "Woooooooo!!"

Good story.
