Left the game last night probably as frustrated as I have every been. Offense could not get a score when we needed it and the defense couldn't get off the field after we did score. But after taking a look at the game one thing came to mind. This team has not quit. Okie State has an offense with some serious talent and the defense with both starting safeties on the bench did a pretty good job of containing them. Holding them to two field goals to start the game kept us in it. Goodman somehow has got to get some confidence. I would like to see a stat of how many times the opposing offense scores after a missed field goal. I go back to the end of the Missouri game and I put in Goodman. Send him out and the last thing I tell him is that we haven't been shutout in over 200 games, put some pressure on him and if he makes it then maybe he gets some confidence.
I have watched the Buffs for almost 30 years and can't remember when we have had so many serious injuries. The offense is in shambles and what frustrates me is that we don't have any identity. If I never see that playaction off the shotgun again I will be fine. We will start a drive with Cody under center and as the drive progresses we always end up in the shotgun. We pound it down there throats for a couple first downs, then we go into the shotgun, throw an incompletion, run on second down then we are in third and long again. Why not just line up and continue pounding it until they stop us. Nothing is more demoralizing than just getting run over all night. Just ask Nebraska, they are still trying to recover from 2001. Sumler did a pretty good job last night. Not a lot of flash but a solid college player. I would have liked to see Tyler last night if for nothing else just a change of pace. If Cody was making positive yards running around then I'm sure that Tyler could have made something happen. Beat Nebraska, especially in there place and with all that has happened this year it will be a successful season. Still bleed black and gold.
