We WILL beat Knebraska!

you all suck! What the hell is the point of being a fan if you can't believe that your team will get up for a rivalry game? :pissed:

The team will rise up and beat nebraska and shut all the inbreds up. We will then crush our bowl opposition and finish with a top 10 recruiting class..........

If i'm wrong ( you have to think I am) this post will self destruct after the nebraska game is over.

i have a feeling that our team will rally against OUR "rival".....

*****************************************

Does Dan and the other coaches use the "rival" ploy in their preparation for the Nebraska game? I have gotten the feeling they don't...but maybe.

If the coaches don't use it, I doubt if the players think much about it....they are too young to remember when the Buffs and Huskers used to slug it out. I suspect the players think it is a winnable game, maybe along the lines of playing Kansas or KSU.

Nebraska could have a let down..they have sewed up a bowl game..they have problems on defense..injuries and suspensions..I don't think it is a rival game for Bo and his coaches...some of the fans do, maybe..but Missouri is a more natural rival for them. The Huskers have historically gotten good talent out of the KC and St. Louis area..and lesser talent from Denver. I doubt it's much over 100 miles between Lincoln and Columbia..while Boulder is some 500 miles away.

That said, it will come down to whether the CU defense can stop the NU running game...and whether they can win the turnover battle. The game is winnable, but if you were a betting man, you would need points.

The players know its a rivalry game. Hell yes they do. The Seniors, they remember, and they pass that knowledge down.

And I am sure the Huskers remember who sent them home for the bowl season last year. 65 points is hard to forget.

Rivalry? You betcha! Both teams should be AMPED, and I am excited to watch the game!

Maybe the CU players do....if so, it should give the Buffs an edge.

Listening to my uncle in Grand Island..he gets hyped for Missouri and Oklahoma..I asked him what about the Buffs, and he just looked at me...

ahhh well, maybe we will sneak up on them...and to tell the truth I don't think it would take too many things to go right for the Buffs to come away with a win.

NU fans (especially the older generation) have always claimed there is no rivalry. The player sure haven't thought like that in a long time. Especially since 2001 and 62-36, nebraska's players love to beat CU. We have sent them home for the season twice since then, and I thinnk they returned the favor once.

Anyone remember that "return to order" tshirt in 2005, Barnett's last season? That sure came true rright? That little pissant was real brave, waiting until the 4th quarter to show that off.

Otoh, I think the younger nebraska fans seem to have come to grips with reality for the most part. Hell, they should welcome the fact that someone still CARES about their program outside of the corn state.

with the likes of cabral, hagan and sykes on the coaching staff, i'm pretty sure this game is as big to the players as it has ever been...ESPECIALLY with a possible bowl birth on the line.

I'm sold. Hope the buffs come out smoking, and keep the fire going all game.

Which gets me back to one of my peeves about what I see on the team and the coaches. When is Hawkins going to show some emotion at the officials over a bad call, or players, when they need a boot in the a$$? Maybe this is the rivalry game where the players and coaches show some fire on the field...not penalty stuff..but some jawing..and a push to show that you really care. Is it just me that thinks there is some competitive fire lacking?

Frankly, I don't care for the love game...this is football, da***it.

Coaching staff has stated, I believe, publicly, that they don't value the NU game over any other games. Just like they don't value the scoring streak or any other CU tradition.

Did you see that dirty hit on Jfly in the KSU game? Hawk went OFF.

I believe Hawk's point is that if you prepare your absolute hardest and best for every game, how can you prepare harder for nebraska?

The scoring streak was less important than trying to get into the end zone. What message would a field goal send? That you protect a meaningless streak at the expense of playing the game the right way? That has no integrity from where I stand.

Yeah..he did..I think Hawk feels about his players like they are family..and he will fight for his family. That is an admirable trait.

It may be mostly me, but sometimes I look at him on the sidelines in the camera shots, and Dan seems to have a less-than 100% involvement in the game that I would like a HC to have.....but you don't have to be a screamer like Pelini either........it might be fun to see Bo upset, if the Buffs can get a 2 possession lead.

I have no problem with Hawk being "above the fray" and letting his assistants handle dress downs. It looks bad for the program when a coach loses his cool. See Pelini, Bo, or even the Illini coach.

Head coaches SHOULD be thinking about more than the instant situation. I like the Hawk stays cool.

However, he may have to address the assisstants he lets handle the ever important minutiae during this offseason..

Every coach has their own sideline demeanor. Many of the best exude outward calm, in my observation.

I remember during the "fireronzook.com" years, the Florida fans were all over Zook for appearing too exhuberant on the sidelines. I guess it only goes to show that you can't make everyone (anyone) happy.
