Something the coaches need to take away from this game

The TEs need to be a part of the passing game. We have a solid group that was ignored for a good part of this season until today. Over 100 yards receiving and Devenny almost had another big gain that was broken up nicely by the NU defender on the play. These guys can catch the ball (reference Deehan's nice sideline grab). Get them the damn ball!

You saw that too, a shame it wasn't figured out until game 12 but progress:smile2:

We've got to shore up our running defense and our lb's other than mohler and beatty......

I don't know if he was worn down the last few games or what, but even Mohler has seemed a little off. I think he can be a monster with a full Spring under his belt though. Beatty continues to make plays, really hope he sees some significant playing time next year (I'm guessing he will have to with Jones graduating). Interested to see the redshirt freshmen infuse some speed into the group.

Yep, katoa, rippy and major. Really like beatty, guy has a non stop motor. Jimmy smith is a player and mahnke is going to be solid.

I still think we didn't see the TE's for most of the season because they needed to stay in and block. I saw a noticeable difference in the OL in the Iowa State game and they continued that the last 2 games. Thus, they could utilize them more...

Very well could be the case, but I think another issue is Cody (and Hansen when he played) rarely looked off their primary receiver, which was usually a wide receiver. Didn't seem like we ran too many plays where the tight end was the primary receiver until today.

I think that is the answer as well. We were all talking before the game about the TE not being involved and came to the same answer. Had to do with the young line and providing another blocker to try and shore things up. As the young guys started to gel, you see plays like the one to Geer for the TD! I believe the TE will play a bigger role next year. I do think Hawk will use them as another weapon in the arsenal next year. If not, then I will have questions about the coaching decisions. Next year will tell alot about the direction of the program.

The easiest play to run is the TE down the middle of the field. NO ONE covers the TE. My dad has been saying that all year, "thats my play, TE down the middle of the field" and it worked today for 68 yards. We have great TE's, lets use them.

Hopefully the return of, basically, our first string Oline next year will free up the TE because they wont have to block.
