First off, lets review some of the players we get back from injuries, RS etc.

Offense: Speedy, Polk, Scott (at full health), Miller, MTM, Iltis, Simas, Tau, Hansen (with a full spring/fall practice schedule).

Defense: Obi (hopefully comes out of his shell), Beatty (will become a starter), Rippy, Major, Katoa and we dont lose anyone in the secondary (exception Walters and Dykes, but their backups have a few full games of experience and looked very good).

*NOTE* Add more if I have forgotten some

We basically have two recruting classes next year, the incoming freshman/JC kids and all of the kids who return from injury or RS seasons.

Now lets take a look at the schedule for next year:

CSU: In Folsom, they are losing a lot of offensive talent (QB, WR, TE) and WE WILL NOT LOSE TO THEM IN OUR HOUSE!

At Miami (OH): First "big" road win for Hawk of the season. The Redhawks went something like 2-10 this year and I do believe it will be similar to last years 42-0 drubbing.

Wyoming: New coach, very iffy QB, this is a win

At West Virginia: This is going to be the biggest road win of Hawkins career. WV loses Pat White and Noel Devine has not lived up to the hype so far and we will be 3-0 coming in to this game and we will get up for this one. Only downside to this game is that I will be in attendence and our record on the road when I attend is 0-4 (2001 Fiesta, 2004 Big 12 Championship, 2006 NU, 2008 aTm) Hopefully that turns around this game

At Texas: Texas returns quite a few people, I believe there is a chance we hold our own but I see Texas winning this one. Loss.

Kansas: Reesing is gone, I believe Sharp is gone (dont take my word for that) and their defense will not be able to contain our running backs. Win against the Jayhawks for the first time in Hawks time here.

At Kansas State: Snyder will think he is coming into the team that won the 03 Big 12 Championship and I believe Freeman will bolt to the league after this year. Their biggest threat will be the little wannabee Sproles. This is a win for the 2nd year in a row.

Missouri: This one is at home and hopefully we are looking for revenge from this year. Daniel is gone, Coffman is gone, they lose a few OL. Right now I see this as a toss up game with a good chance of a win for the Buffs.

ATM: No chance we get embarassed at home to them. They really didnt have any playmakers (other than WR) this year and I think at this point in the season we have a very established running game and they wont be able to stop us.

ISU: Will not come down to a goal line stand next year. This is going to be a game in which we demolish a lesser team.

Ok St: They lose Robinson and possibly one of their RB. Not sure about this game right now. I think because it is Stillwater we struggle a little bit and this will be a close loss.

NU: At home, they will have a new QB and we will return to our running game. At least 150 yards for us on the ground, we win by two scores and hopefully this game clinches the North for us which would make it that much more intersting.

Now I think this would make us 9-2 with the Mizzou game as a tossup right now.

I tried my best not to be a homer but I think 8 wins is a very realistic season.

8 wins would have realistic for this season without the injuries. We are going to be much better next year. A lot of young guys got experience this year, and Demetrius, Darrell and speedy are going to be fighting all spring summer and fall for carries, which is going to make them all better. If we stay halfway healthy we are going to blow up the next two years.

Okie Lite will be very good next year if Bryant and Hunter both return. I don't see Robinson leaving, but if they return their core players outside Texas this will be the toughest game.

Reesing is a junior, is he not? I don't see Robinson leaving either, he doesn't have high draft stock.

Pretty much agree 100% with your analysis here....

9-3 or 10-2 could very well be realistic goals. The Power structure in the Big12 north is going to shift back our way, away from Mizzou and Kansas, in the next couple of years.

:yeahthat: Should be realistic goals. N'est pas?

Where are they jumping to?

It sure isn't the NFL!

Neither is NFL material at all!

Have you looked at the SR QB class? Not very good imo. I think Harrell is the only decent SR QB imo. There will be plenty of underclassmen declaring for the draft this year.

I'm looking at you, Colt McCoy!

But Reesing and Robinson won't be among them. They'd have to be guaranteed to be first day picks to even consider jumping to the league and neither is going higher than the 7th round if that.

Both will be back for their schools next year unbfortunately

These are very unrealistic.

First and foremost, this isn't USC or Oklahoma or Florida talent here so just on that knock a couple of "W's" of the expectation meter.

Then remember, this is still a young team with a lot of players coming off injury and not seeing the field for a couple of years. That offensive line is still a young line and it's going to take a while before that unit gels. Wide receivers have to step up. The special teams have to be worked out.

Finally there is no defensive line. And if you don't have a good D-line, it doesn't matter how good your linebackers or Defensive backs are. Every team that the Buffs play will be in it til the end.

Oh and any team that actually recruited well during their 2005 and 2006 recruiting classes are going to have better upperclassmen than the Buffs will.

I dream of 10 wins, but I know that type of thinking is still a year or two away. 7 wins and 5 contested losses, and I'll be thrilled. It's going to be on that Dline though. If they can get that worked out, another win could be in the cards.

My thinking is that 8 wins is a realistic expectation for next year. 9 is probably a best case scenario.

I see CSU, @ Miami Lite, Wyo, aTm, @ KjSU and @ ISU as games they absolutely SHOULD win next year. I add KjSU to that list on the assumption that Freeman is gone. If he returns, they are probably tough enough in Manhattan I would put them in this next group. But I really don't see him coming back to play under Snydely for one year. KU, MU, NU in Boulder and @ WVU are tougher games, but I can easily see 2-2 in those games. That brings us to 8-2, with highly probable losses in Stillwater and Austin rounding out the season...

So you're essentially saying to tank next year & hit the weights.

On paper (and what we've seen on the field of them)..the injuried coming back plus more youth makes the Buffs look as strong as they have in recent years. The talent (somewhat raw perhaps will be there) will be in place to win 9-10 games and have a good bowl game.

This will be an excellent read on the quality of the coaching staff. Can they take talent and coach it up? Can they recognize positions they need to upgrade and move the right players there, and coach them? Can they make the right decision on the starting QB, and let him lead the team? Sorry..but it's hard to sit your kid if you perceive he's close to as good as someone else's kid. That's just being a father.

I think we will know after fall camp what the probable season will be. If Hansen plays well enough to clearly win the job, even in Dan's mind..then I think 10 wins and a high national ranking is very possible. If Cody is the starter again..I think it more likely to be 8 wins and a good bowl trip.

it will also boast the tailgate of the year. ubt decided go go fancy on y'all next year with fare.

I think it would be awesome if we swept the north and our non conference schedule, 2 regular season losses, and probably lose the Big XII Championship game. Next year we tear it up!
