AAU: Boo Williams
JUCO: Weatherford (TX) Weatherford C.C.

Ht: 6-foot-3
Wt: 185 lbs

Rivals Bio:
Originally signed with Virginia Tech in the fall of 2007; did not qualify academically.
ESPN Eval:
Kendall is a powerful guard with a versatile skill set. His power is evident in all aspects of his game as he pounds his dribble, snaps his passes, attacks the rim hard, and finishes against contact. He has an above average stroke from behind the three-point line and an excellent stroke off the dribble from 18 feet and in, both of which are characterized by great elevation. He sees the floor very well and is equally adept at threading the needle to cutters or driving and kicking to shooters. He is an extremely aggressive player, so while he does a nice job of creating offense for himself and others, he can also tend to be turnover prone at times.
Cousin of former Texas star and Oklahoma City Thunder player Kevin Durant

Re: '10 NH PG Kendall Durant (JUCO)

I'm wondering if it would be a good move to bring in another PG next season. I think all spots should be used for some bigs.

After seeing how discombobulated the team looked in the TCU game when the only true PG currently on the roster was out for the entire game, I think another PG is needed.

This is a awfully young team. Once we get a year under our belts that kind of performance won't be tolerated, but for now, it's hard for me to expect a lot from this team. I think Tomlinson, Kelley, and Thorne will be enough at PG. We need some more depth at F and C. We only have 2 scholarships for next year.

I agree ~ the team really doesn't have a quality back up point guard. Dwight Thorne is much better in the SG role.

Re: '10 JUCO PG Kendall Durant

I'd actually be ok with taking a big and a guard in the '10 class. I just don't want a JUCO. Coach Bz has finally gotten our class numbers about right and our academics on track for avoiding future APR penalties. Last thing we need is a JUCO with a poor academic history.

Re: '10 JUCO PG Kendall Durant

I'd take a chance on Kevin Durants little cousin.

Sophomore sensations

Four Weatherford College players attend junior college top-120 camp in Tulsa

By BRENT SHIRLEY

Kendall Durant has trouble sleeping at night.

Instead of drifting away to dream world, the sophomore Weatherford College guard replays last year’s basketball games in his mind. He inserts his new teammates, Beas Hamga and Sammy Yeager, into losses, imagining how they could change the outcome. Durant said he can’t wait for the 2009 season to start.

"It’s scary how good we can be," Durant said. "We can all play defense, and we can all contribute. We aren’t selfish, and that’s the main thing. We lost a lot of close games last year without a lot of height or depth."

Sophomores Hamga, a 7-foot center transfer from UNLV, and Yeager, a 6-foot-3 guard transfer from San Diego, traveled with Durant and WC sophomore Aron Walker to Tulsa for the Mullen-College Coaches Network men’s top 120 camp on July 10-11. The camp featured the top 120 sophomore junior college players in the nation.

Scout says that Durant signed his LOI with Virginia Tech. Rivals and ESPN have him uncommitted.

I know your post is an old one but PG is the most important position on the court. You cannot win without a good one. The Buffs are lacking in that position.

Nate's pretty good. I like him better as a backup who gets significant minutes, but I believe you can win with him at the point. He sees the court well, has a good shot, gives you some rebounding, and has a very good assist-to-turnover ratio.

That said, I believe we're going to be blown away by Shannon Sharpe next year. He's a defensive ball hawk who can jump through the gym.
